Looking for a rotary buffer.. Anyone have one they want to sell

I've been detailing cars for some friends for the past month or so.

My business has been pretty good (partially due to my insanely low prices)

While most cars are in decent condition, and they clean up well with my 3M fine cut RC and SMR for dark and light cars, I occasionally come across a really heavily swirled dark car that is almost impossible to restore.

I know that a rotary is the only way to remove all swirls, so I'm looking to pick one up..

If at all possible, I'd like to buy a used one, as I don't want to use it unless absolutely necessary.

Does anyone have one they'd like to sell? If not, what could you recommend? CMA has a new one for $99, while this priced is perfect, I wonder about the quality.

Thanks in advance

Get a high quality unit. A cheapo, especially when in professional use, won't last long. The DeWalt DW 849 and Makita 9227c are the popular choices. Prices on the DeWalt and Makita run anywhere from $150-$200. I've recently seen the DeWalt for around $150, and the Makita around the same price as well. I personally own a DeWalt and love it. :up

For used, try eBay. Just watch what you bid on, some of them are pretty abused. However, I'm sure you can find a nice unit. Just watch the pricing though, it might be worth your while to pay the extra $$$$ and get a brand new unit.

Good Luck!!

Make sure you get one that is variable speed. it will be easier to learn how to use one properly .

I have a milwakee and a cheapo wen(the wen has only been used once.)

I recommend either the Makita 9227C or DeWalt 849. These are the two main rotary buffers out there (sort of like a Klasse vs Zaino type thing going on with both, each are great, but each one has specific pro's and con's.)

I went with the Makita at www.harborfreight.com for $159.99 and $5.95 to ship it.

The DeWalt 849 was $149.99 but did not have the backing plate, plus I like Makita's loop handle.

Slowly discovering the same conclusion. A PC will get out most but not all light-medium clearcoat scratches. The PC lacks the power of a rotary.

Went to Coastal Tools to look at and handle the Makita 9227C. It weighs about 6 1/2 lbs. It was priced at $169 + tax. Very impressive rotary.

$159 + S&H is a very good price.

I seen the one at CMA the Vector for $99 I though about it but then said nah and got a brand new Makita 9227C off Ebay for $125 and I love it.
