Lets try this again, $30 foam gun!

This thing is really really cool! ... Really really cool!

Glad you like it!

Heh heh, FWIW I'd stick some high-friction material on the top of your work platform, lest you slip and fall. Sorry to be all :nono ...I tend to overkill such safety-related stuff; every now and then I have a scary moment on mine and when that happens I'm glad they aren't as slick as bare aluminum.

Back on topic- 2 Qs:

Do you like the pistol grip?

How does the pistol grip attach to the rest of the foamgun, i.e., could you replace it with some other kind of flow-control?

So, are you guys using this as a no touch washing alternative or are you shooting the vehicles with the gun then scrubbing with a nice mitt and rinsing accordingly?? Thanks.

Depends who you ask, techniques vary. I do a variation on the latter, though I cringe at the word "scrubbing" ;)

Thanks accumulator, it's Junes bench, I am 6' 1" tall, so I dont need a bench. :)

I like the pistol grip and it attaches to the gun via a quick disconnect. I put some teflon tape on the connections just to be safe, but other than that, it's great!

Nice find.

You had better go ahead and warn Dover Saddlery now, though ;

somethin' tells me they've got a product riot coming their way.

Can I put regular car wash shampoo in?

like Meguiar Gold class or Meguiar NXT?

So what's with the first statement...it cost 15 dollars or something?

Ah, didn't realize/remember that you were that tall. Heh heh, yeah, the taller people I know never need all the platforms/etc. that I have to use (I'm only 5' 10"). Those extra few inches must make all the difference :D

I'm getting spoiled...I love the downward-angled view so much that I'm using the platforms to do the roofs of our sedans even :o At least I'm getting my money's worth of use out of them.

Heh heh, for June's sake, I'll repeat my ..[lecture on high-friction surfaces].. ;)

Check out the pics Brandon posted in the Click & Brag Forum. Hey Accumulator - thanks for the concern but at 5' 8.5" I need the platform for roof work and it's really not slick - may look that way but I don't have any problems. I got my "sea" legs at an early age working on a tobacco farm, old school way - log barns - where you had to hang sticks of tobacco between the log poles to "cure" it. Those things could get 15-20 feet tall. Note: tobacco has to be heated up and dried to turn it from a green leaf to a smokable product and no I don't smoke , except an occasional cigar.

Yall did stick tobacco? Damn thats old, we did rack system, not quite as much work. I am still working on getting 'bacca gum from the tractors.

So Brandon1, after you foam do you then wash as normal or just wipe with a mitt, or rinse first then wash? I've heard so many variants it's really got me confused...

My method is put the car in the shade and make a rinse bucket. Then foam the whole car and just start washing applying more foam as needed. Then when I am all done, I just rinse. It takes about 5 min to wash the paint/glass on a car, 10min on a truck or suv.

Ya'll got to realize, we're talking 2 "detailers" vehicles and my wife's van who's every bit as picky. So, they weren't like some of the rollin sess pools you see on the road. But, the foam gun really does a great job of putting a soapy solution on the car and it's probably better in the long run on you paint. One big point is it's faster than fooling with 2 buckets.

And yeah, we did stick barns - try GO-JO on those tractors, sure use to work on my hands and arms.

This might be a dopey question, but I'd like to pose it. Do both foam guns (Gilmour and E-ZAll) drain down the quart container so it's empty - OR - do they simply feed a small amount of water into the container so it appears full?

A minor problem with my $10 soap sprayer from Lowe's is that it keeps the 4 oz reservoir filled with water. It's never emptied. So, at the end, I can't really gage how much shampoo I've actually used as the small plastic reservoir is still filled with a colored mixture of some unknown dilution.

Thanks.

I have a cheap foam gun and lacking anything more than ON or OFF for the soap, but it does have an adjustable nozel for spray pattern. I can adjust the volume coming from the soap container by feel, but would preferr the ratio settings. Gilmour does this I believe with hard settings.

I'd love to hear of another gun that has settings, and allows pure water with hard pressure spray if needed, that did not cost what the Gilmour does.
