My '90 RX-7 is in need of some serious attention.
It sat in my garage for the last few months while the weather was crappy and it need some repairs. It was parked outside for a few years, but even after being kept in the garage that paint has continued to oxidize. The other major problem is my cats. They won't stay off of it, and even with a cover on it I think their claws still get to the paint.
With the condition of the paint, I know it will not look all that great until I get it repainted. That's in the works, but is probably a year away. In the mean time, I want to use this car as a learning platform to both make this car look better, and keep my new '04 Subaru Legacy looking sharp (but that's for another thread). I'll be washing the car using the two bucket method, a chenille sponge and GC soap. Then, I'll hit it with a clay magic bar. What I need are some good recommendations on what I can do to clean and polish the paint. Is there a good 3M product I should try? I don't have a PC, so this will all be by hand. How agressive can I be on the oxidized areas? That really bad spot on the roof was made much worse by putting carnuba on it. After I get it polished, I was thinking of trying a Megs glaze and then a paste carnuba wax. Any other suggestions?
