lake country old and revised pad

Slightly OT, but since the biggest complaint I've seen about pads is them 'cookie cutting', why doesn't someone just make a better backing plate? It seems that all it would take would be a rounded flare at the edges, so even if you did apply pressure, there would be nothing to cut into the pad backing? A curve in the 1/4" outer edge of the plate would be all it would take, vs. the pointy edge we get now.

Lightweight moulded flexible Urethane backing plates are superior to the more ridged and heavier backing plates commonly used. The Velcro material is moulded into the plate eliminating delaminating, which was a problem a while ago

I may be wrong here, bufferman can correct me, but I think the part that cuts the pad foam is the edge of the velcro. At rest the velcro sits on a layer slightly elevated from the rest of the pad, but when downward pressure is applied it sinks below the rest of the pad. The velcro then begins to stress and abrade the bordering foam, eventually cutting into it.

I believe the new design has the velcro all on one plane and extending nearly to the edge of the pad. That should be great to use.
