Klasse SG................come on in

I applied klasse sg for the first time today ontop of klasse aio. I applied it by hand, and removed it with a sonus buffing bonnet on my pc @ 6. Seemed to work pretty well.

i'm planning on using the SG for me jeep, and my mom's solara.

they sit outside, so they need the "best" protection.

I'll be using WG on the camaro today :D

thanks for all the tips guys, i guess i will have to try them all and see what works.

Oh and I'll be using KSG on my sister's car this Friday afternoon/evening, so depending on where in Chicago you are, feel free to stop by and check the process and results

thanks for the offer but i'm no longer on the NW side of chi-town.

i'm in elgin, 40 miles NW of the city

I apply SG to the whole car then start to remove guessing it's about 30 to 60 minutes or so by the time i start till i finish i'll start my second coat after about a 30 minute waite peroid , then do the same for the 3rd coat. let sit for another hour or so then top. haven't had any problems other than i put too much on sometimes. then it's the detail spray mist and wipe off and seem to work just fine no streaks. yes it's kinda hard to work with and some other type sealants may be easier to use but i like sg so no matter how hard it is to work with i'll keep using it. Time isn't factor

Mystic...all conventional wisdom (and most retailers reccomendations) says that you should wait at least 12 hours between coats of SG.

I'm not positive why that is but I'm guessing it has to do with the product being unevenly spread or even removed as you apply the next coat. In other words, after you apply it, the SG just sits on top of your paint for a while. Any kind of rubbing (other than a gentle buff) is likely to "push" the SG around on top of your paint leaving you with an uneven layer. That leaves you with a less uniform finish. Meaning not only is your car not looking as good as it could, some spots are less protected than others.

Can someone confirm that this is what happens?

I am aware of the 12/24 hour thing a lot of people have spoken about in using the Sg but so far it seems fine the way i am doing it .i get enough peoplel saying how nice my car looks so one can only assume something your doing it working put pretty well. Not doubting you at all on your thinking but i have use this way for about 3 years now and have been very happy with the results i get. maybe i'll try the 12/24 just to see if i see any difference at all.Not to mention how long it last.

I applied AIO followed by SG a couple weeks ago, then decided I wanted to try some hand polishing (don't own a machine) to remove some minor swirls. My first, ignorant attempt was a disaster - the polish dried before I could work it and had no effect whatsoever, and the Carnauba I tried to follow up with REALLY didn't like what I was trying to lay it on top of. I can only guess that I need to remove the Klasse products before I try this again. I assumed that the hand polish would cut through them, but apparently not.

I've seen that Griot's sells a paint prep product for this purpose. Is there something else similar at the local Pep Boys, or will another application of AIO do the trick? Other suggestions welcome!

well,

my 1st experience with SG was ok.

I applied the SG after polishing with IP. i tried the " by hand method" with an applicator, and that did not go too well. the applicator was new and it was either not damp enough or too damp.

So, i decided to use the PC and my new red finishing pad from cma.

worked OK.

after 40 minutes i did notice streaking, so i had to use eagle 1 wet wipe and shine to help the removal of the SG.

i was not impressed with the slickness afterwards, possibly my fault.

jeep does look nice and it does bead quite well :D

This is weird, I *know* I responded to this earlier but I don't see my post  :nixweiss

I've had this happen before when working by machine. The AIO oughta work but it'll leave some (minimal) protection behind. The Griot's stuff oughta work but it's kinda pricey.

I just use rubbing alcohol. Wipe or spray it on the KSGed surface, let it dwell for a while (not too long, don't let it evaporate), then wipe it off. Even if it doesn't fuly remove the KSG (you could always repeat until it does), it'll compromise it enough that the polish will work through it better.

I might be out of line, but I'd tell you to wipe off the car with a soft, cotton terry towel.

I think the towel has a bit more "bite" and nap to it that makes wiping up SG a breeze.

I've used SG dozens of times and have never even remotely had a problem with it, in fact I can't even related to the problem some of you have with it. It's been wipe on, wipe off for me.

Never had a problem with swirling from wiping with a soft cotton terry cloth, either.

I grab a new towel for each panel.

Just try it.

I know microfibers are the softest towel, but the next time SG frustrates you, grab a cotton terry towel. You'll be surprised. :up
