tdekany, Yep I hear ya.... but 330 without an electric polisher? Will this work?

yes it will work not everyone has a buffer, although you could by a cheap orbital one in an auto parts store or walmart. very easy to use.

But for the paint in better condition, the 215 would be enough. But I am with Tamás, get the 330. Or both. 12 bucks are no biggie.

I want to put 2180 on the paint - not on top of 215 0 do you see where I am coming from?

How come you are not sleeping?

Szia! Éjszakai bagoly vagyok...

No questions, there is a point in Tamás' reasoning. But I think that 215 won't affect the durability of 2180. But true, a freshly polished, bare paint is the best base you can think of.

You can choose a cheap dual action machine as well. Not the Sears 10" orbital, but a simple one, with a fixed backing plate. (PC 333 or any other DA sander will do. They cost around 40-60 bucks.)

We are glad to help you!

Alright, I might have to do a little research on the buffers. That really seems like a way I could TOTALLY wreck the paint.

you really can't wreck the paint withit, unless you smack the paint with it.

First choice is 1000 due to it's long protectiveness like 2180 - close to a year.

Have you actually had it last this long for you? I've tried 218, 2180, 1000, Pink wax, and combos with 185 thrown in, and I don't have beading last that long ever. I have had 215 last around 3 months, but on the couple cars that I have used any of the first 4 and left alone, I never have beading at even the 4 month mark. :furious: Anyone have better results?

Yep. Actually when I first applied the 2180/Pink combo (August), the beading stopped at 2-3 week mark. The application itself wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. However, I stripped back everything and applied the 2180 (×3) very slowly and thoroughly; using a bit more product than I used to. Applying the layers I felt that the paint 'filled up' with the product and everything went very easily. Since then absolutely no complaints. I am using this combo on my hood exclusively because it gets the most intensive abuse from heat, various particles, etc. It beads the same as my 845-equipped roof (control panel), and looks terrific.

But keep in mind that my finish was neglected before. I didn't notice this fill-up effect with new paints.
