Just Witnessed... Horror

I think some of you people need to relax. In some bodybuilding/fitness forums they'd see some of the fat/really skinny people that are on autopia and say "Jee I almost puked up my lunch today when I saw this digusting fat guy (or this scrawny guy) and I felt like throwing protein powder on his face."

Some people just don't know any better; ignorance is bliss. No one is perfect at everything.

Now go drop a business card on that guy's infiniti and you're set.

Do I hear a new shady business technique? Send a "friend" to "detail" for $50... screw the whole thing up, and then you swoop in and offer a "proper" detail? :lol

Wow that is a traumatizing experience.

I witness a guy take windex to clean his whole car with a towel (i don't think terry or MF).

I watched him clean the windows, thinking okay, window is fine and then he decided to go full blown on his car.

I was just thinking, how long will the windex last.

I see your point, but the difference is that he gets paid to take care of the car and ruins it instead. If he does it to his own car then that is his problem.

You get what you pay for in this business....serves the car's owner right for being cheap.

I spent 6 hours detailing a BMW X3 today but when the owner saw it, he knew where those 6 hours went. :)

I had a neighbor who waxed his truck. Didn't bother to ask me what wax or how he should use it. Put on a whole can of wax, then went inside for a few hours for the wax to dry....but thunderstorms hit before he could go back out. It was a few days before he even tried to buff off the excess and by then the car was covered in filth. He put an incredible amount of marring into his paint.

I know what ya mean. I have no pressure washer so I just go to the local wand wash (basically like a 2 car garage cut in half, except enough room to fit cars, trucks, and the washing equipment) and bring my buckets and the usual with me. Finished washing the car, dried it off and rolled it out of my stall to see the guy who was in the other stall is outside drying his car in the sun with a bath towel. He was almost done so I didn't bother. I usually don't talk to the other people washing their cars but sometimes they do give me some funny looks heh. "Why is that kid HAND washing his Pontiac?!"

Yeah, I use my nearby DIY place, too. I get some looks when I pull out my buckets and detailing supplies. I remember washing my entire car with a dish sponge once, because I didn't feel like driving to Pep Boys to buy a new wash mitt.

EDIT: I used the dark green scouring side of the sponge, too ... for extra cleaning power!!! :D

I didn't mean to put you on the spot or anything, in fact we should thank people like this for giving us business. :grinno:

He needs to work on his application technique. His coverage isn't very even...I can still see black spots. :doh

You wouldn't believe what I see when I visit body shops and dealerships all day long! I need to start taking videos.

The infiniti dealer near me uses a clean cotton mop to wash their cars :bawling:

that is one of the best pics i've seen on here yet. awesome!!!

someone i know bought some zaino on my recommendation (after he saw the results in person)...came back to me a few months later complaining that it "didn't last very long". i asked "what happened? poor durability?". he said "no...just that i ran out really fast".

ends up he only got 3 or 4 cars TOTAL out of his bottles of Z5 and Z2. :nervous2: wow.

We just had our annual high school marching band fundraising car wash. Just about makes me sick to see how awful some people's paint looks, and I can't seem to get through to the other kids, that the best place for the sponges is NOT on the ground!!

Just a few days ago while driving to lunch I saw a "mobile detailer" van parked next to Lexus SUV and the guy was washing the car with a straw broom dipped in a bucket. I was stopped at a light so I was able to watch the ordeal for 2-3 minutes before moving on.

I think the worst part of it was that it was a "professional" detailer that apparently is quite popular - I've seen several of their vans around town.

One of my other teachers came home to her daughter washing the car without being told to do so, as a "look i'm doing something without being told to do so". Upon closer look by the mother she saw that the teen was using a sponge/green scouring pad combo and some laundry soap:soscared: . I told her to give me a call when it dried and they could not longer live with all the swirls:wall
