Interesting Similarity

What about Griot's?

While their initial offerings in the early '90s were pretty obviously relabeled Meguiar's stuff (anybody wanna challenge/correct that assertion? I sure couldn't tell 'em apart), these days they claim to manufacture at least some of their products. Pix of Richard standing next to vats/etc., ad copy statements that they do in fact make the stuff, and so on.

Sure, they buy their clay and some other stuff from somebody, but I'd say they manufacture a fair number of their products in-house. But no, I can't prove it...

Gotta say that IME stuff like SpeedShine, their Car Wash, Rubber Prep, and even their Wheel Cleaner all seem different from other such products on the market.

Optimum also seems to make their own stuff, or at least have their own proprietary formulas - a lot of their chemicals seem pretty unique.

So far we have Xpert, 3D, Warner Chemical, Premium Finish Care and Optimum as Detailing Chemical maker/blenders. Are there any more?

Northern Labs, Inc in Manitowoc, Wisconsin makes Kit-wax products and is a car-care chemical manufacturing contractor.

Wonder who makes the care-car chemicals being advertised by WeatherTech? (yes, the custom floor-mat company is selling a complete line of car-care chemicals!)

Also, Turtle Wax abandoned its manufacturing facilities about 5 or 6 years ago in Chicago and elsewhere.

The company I retired from, Automotive International.

They produce a lot of different products for many companies, including Ford, Chrysler, etc, plus some boutique companies.

Now owned by Mother's, bought them when ClayMagic forced them into bankrupty due to clay infringement.

I believe that Mother's still sells the MarkV line in some areas and uses the production/blending facilites to produce some Mother's products.

It was a pretty modern plant and equipment, so they got a long term, good deal.

Yep, Mark-V products are sold over here in the Philippines along with Mothers products, by the Mothers distributor.

Their plan was to use the Mark-V branding as the "professional line" and the Mother's as the "mass marketed" brand, and it seems to be working.

This is extremely common and ultimately who cares as long as the product performs. My objection is when a supposed manufacturer (aka rebottler) makes extreme levels of profit for doing nothing. Everyone has to make a living but sometimes the user ends up getting lied to and ripped off.
