How to remove winshield wiper streaks??

The old wiper blades have apparently left stubborn streaks on my winshield. What's the best way to remove them? I was thinking of using steel wool, if so, what grit should I use?

All suggestions welcome, thanks!

use #0000 (super fine) steel wool and a glass cleaner. I like Sprayway brand glass cleaner. :xyxthumbs

I would try a glass polish first. I've had pretty good results with Zaino's Z-12 Glass Polish (www.zainostore.com) and the review of Z-12 at this site's "reviews" is very favorable. There's only one review of Z-12 (and it is not mine) I'd suggest reading all the review and then make your choice. Steel wool would be way down my list of options.

Yes, works great and does not scratch. Will scratch plastic window tint though, but so will most glass polishes.

If you've got a clay bar, try that first.

I've also had good results with Barkeeper's Friend, available for about a buck on most cleaning aisles. Just applied it with a wet sponge, and it removed the same type scrapes on my 92 Mazda.
