how to handle weekly customer/spending to much money?

'If it makes you feel better, I would give him a \"Free Full Detail Card\" and ask him to give it to someone who he thinks would really appreciate it. That way he can feel good about giving a detail to someone (maybe a secretary, lawn guy, etc) and you can feel better about taking the money. Just my 2cents.'

There are some very generous, very wealthy people in this world. Some of 'em tip waitresses, others tip their housekeepers, this one tips his detailer. Sounds like everybody involved oughta be happy.

And FWIW, I know a few high-net-worth folks who drive very average vehicles, so I wouldn't read anything into his choices there.

+1

I have a similar client. I just did his wifes Lexus SUV interior for free as a thank you for all of his business. He refused to let me do it for free. He also pays me more than the price of my jobs. I have tried everything but he is just very generous. Rather than leave the money, which I can understand that insulting him, just send him a thank you gift. I took the money for my clients SUV and used it to send the wife flowers and him a nice bottle of wine. Not that they can't afford to do that any day but it is a nice way to say thank you. And with the rest of the money, I paid it forward.

Well put yourself in the consumers place for a second. In this world of hacks and wannabes in every sector you spend your hard earned dollar on. Once you find a good guy you do whatever it takes to keep them. Sounds to me like money is not even an issue to this guy. So he's taking care of his guy. (you) I wouldn't worry to much about it. It seems you both know where each other stand right now if he continues to give you such lavish tips I say just bank it. You never know when the next hard time will come.

I've got a customer who pays me $100 a week to wash two cars for him. I told him he was paying me too much but he says it is worth it to have his cars cleaned properly. He told me I can toss on some spray wax every once in a while if it will make me feel any better.

thanks guys for the replies. i was there yesterday did a wash and vac on his benz and he gave me 200 bucks lol. I guess he is kinda like this with most people who do good work like landscaping and stuff to. Some kid showed up and took a measurement of some brick patio and was there for maybe 3 minutes. he handed him 40 bucks for doing that as a tip.

I have a similar client. He is quite wealthy - just bought an Aston Martin to celebrate the IPO of his 34th company!

His daily driver is a Tahoe.

He has the Corporate jet, Lake House, sits on the Board of the Children's Hospital, etc.

Trust me, this guy knows what he's doing, and I appreciate it...

On a completely different note, I used to own some comedy clubs, and David Letterman would frequent the Indy location 3-4 times per year. We'd give him as much privacy as possible, and he'd tip $20 for a bottled water.

Your situation is not completely unusal.

Best of luck after graduation!!!
