How do you guys keep your black/dark paint mar free???

I'm not sure how the case can be made that a booth style pressure washer can scratch paint. Now, if there was a crappy repaint and somehow the water got under it and it hadn't bonded right, yeah, it'd peel that crappy paint job right off. But we aren't talking really high pressure here.

Drive through, "Beat-em-Up", car washes will scratch the crap out of your car. Sometimes, they'll even have someone's antenna stuck in them and they'll flail you to death. A big no no. :nono

There is a lot of construction on the road my work is on. There is not always mud and small rocks on that road. My car is filthy by Friday. I'll make sure to blast the dirt off the car before I start rubbing those small stones and mud. The dirt doesn't run along the surface once the water hits it, it's off there.

And I don't care how soft your :bow French MF is, dirt is scratchy. I get as much of the dirt off as I can before putting mitt to car.

Ymmv. Do whatcha want. It's your car.

Sorry if I got a little fired up there. I was in Paint Protection mode.

example: Asteroid is going to destroy planet. Me: "aah, my car's going to be all scratched up."

I flinch in fall when leaves touch my car.

Thanks guys for all the tips! I might give the Klasse a try or just go back to zaino... I'm just not all sure I like the blackfire either way.

I'll pick up a new mitt (one thats not black) and maybe some new drying towels. I think maybe my big blues are past their time. I read that the blue tends to be not as soft as other colors after time.... and after washing mine they are more crisp than soft. I might try the grey ones autopia sells.

I might also give some of the DF towels a try.

thanks again!

I'm not sure how similar the autopia and DF towels are, if they are indeed the same/similar you may have simply gotten a bad one.:nixweiss

When I got my DF Towels I thoroughly washed them first and performed the CD test, passed. To be extra safe I will never use them without a very slick QD. Absolutely no marring from using them yet.

I read some posts where they are supposedly the same towell who knows:nixweiss I got two and they both marred the cd so I put them away after only one use.

BluHeaven- Sorry to hear about your marring, I know you put a lot into getting your TT all spruced up whe you got it. The "marred Audi syndrome" is something I find puzzling; the paint is HARD, as you find out when you polish it. Yet most Audis are all marred up :nixweiss
My poor A4 is microscratched to hell...it's gonna take an entire day's work to get those out. Maybe more. :(

I feel for you...once the marring gets to a certain point, Audis are a pain without a rotary.
