HELP PLEASE! Stained Pearl White Paint - 1987 Audi 5000CS

Ok, so long story short, I sold my first car about 10 years ago and finally tracked it down and re-purchased it.



For the passed 2 years, the Audi has been stored in a covered but outdoor barn. The paint is all original and was in fine shape 40k miles ago however the exposure has had detrimental effects on it. Additionally, there appear to be spots all over the car almost like a leopard. The paint is stained in many places and I don't know what products to use.



What I have done thus far:



Washed

Zaino Clay Bar

Griot's Clay Bar

Heavy Cut polishing pad on PC with 3M finesse it 2

Heavy Cut polishing pad on PC with Griot's Polish 2

Heavy Cut polishing pad on PC with Meguiars product



Suggestions???!!!

I would say that for the majority, it looks as if it is spotted on pretty much all of the roof, trunk and hood. Fenders and doors are not nearly as bad.

Welcome to Autopia! Hey, that's just too cool that you repurchased your first car (let alone that it's a cool old Audi 5KQ ;) ).



Yeah, those stains look pretty bad...wonder if you really *will* get 'em all out :think: Be prepared to, uhm...be realistic.



.. I will order that [decontamination] kit. Any other suggestions that I can try before it arrives?

You might try claying while the first step of the system (FK1119) is dwelling. Note that this will destroy the clay *FAST*. Also, I'd use a somewhat aggressive clay and not worry about any marring from it.



If you're working via PC I'd use the 4" wool pads from Cyclo Toolmakers with something pretty aggressive. Meguiar's M105 or 1Z Pasta Intensiv or maybe the new version of Meguiar's M02 (which might still have the aggressive chemical cleaners that the old version was full of).



But I'd wait until you've done the decon first before you start abrading the paint any more. Let the chemicals do the work to the best of their ability and *then* start cutting off clear.

Any suggestions for an 'aggressive' clay?



Little update from today. Spent a few more hours with the initial clean-up...

I wasn't thinking of a clay as aggressive as the Meg's red, but that's the general idea. I'm not sure what to recommend since my preferred clay (SmartClay) is off the market :confused: I guess I'd see if ClayMagic Blue did the trick, and if not then I'd go ahead with something like the Meg's red (or the aggressive stuff from Sonus) and accept that I'd have to do a lot of correction to fix the marring it'll leave.

Has anyone tried Valugard ABC Neutralization system? I ordered a kit yesterday.



ValuGard Neutralization System



Would the FK kit be an overlap of the AutoInt or should I order that as well?

Actually, ABC is the one I usually use...just mentioned the FK one as I had the link to AutoGeek handy. There's a slight diff between the two systems, but generally you won't go wrong with either.



The "C" isn't anything special, just a regular shampoo. The "A" and "B" are good stuff. I find "B" a bit milder than I'd expected, but I still recommend eye protection and rubber gloves. Don't let it dry on the vehicle, keep wetting it down with more "B".

I will follow this and will post results! Also ordered the aggressive clay that was posted.

95///M3- I'd expect the first/alkaline step of the system to do the most good in this case, and I'd be ready to do it more than once. (Heh heh, now watch the second/acidic step do it instead, just so I can look silly :chuckle: )
