Grout Sponge

Let's talk about religion now! Just kidding. Hey I'm not mad and actually all of this dialoge is a waste of time, the "rant" I was referring to was the guy above you that told the moderator to delete the thread on page one. Believe it or not, it's not all about you, hehe.

My wife tells me that all the time! BTW not my definition it was a synonym list, I was trying to find a better way of saying what I meant by rant since you educated me on it's usage. Let's try to play nice since it's Christmas time. I'll say I'm sorry first. No hard feelings? Even to the other guy that I was posting to, its JMO, no reason to get... hmmm.... help me out with a word here....Dang! it I only had a dictionary or a life.....

There is no apology necessary on my end, because I never had any feelings about the comments you made. The statment was clearly a joke to someone who I have helped out in the past. :cooleek:

Now let's get back to talking about grout sponges. :D

do they have grout sponges at lowes?

Different Lowe's, in different parts of the country, have different inventory.

The Ohio Lowe's I've checked out had a GS, but it's not the fabled Greek one that's usually mentioned as the benchmark. The one they did have works OK for me so far, but I'm just using it for non-critical-wheels so I can't really say if it's any good :nixweiss

I just wanted to chime in ... I bought two grout sponges from Home Depot on Monday. They were two bucks each. I don't think I will go back to using a mitt again. The sponge is cheaper and easier to work with.

I've used grout sponges and they seem to pull the dirt (and therefore scratch) across the car especially with ONR.

I have a black car and live in the Midwest. I wash my car outside with warm buckets of water and ONR and I have to tell you those sponges seemed to drag the dirt and salt across the paint and not "absorb" it. They may work with other washes that create a lot of suds but not with ONR.

I went out and bought 5 wool mitts for washes my car in the winter.

Sorry should have said washing......

Wow, I'm sure glad I missed that 27-page GS topic. I wonder if even half of those 27 pages is actually honest and quality posting that Autopia's usually known for... hmm.

It's actually a very informative thread if you have any interest in using a grout sponge. There's no bickering or name calling at all that I remember. This thread is downright punishing in comparison.

I guess those of us that use them are blind?

I've had issues with mitts "dragging" stuff across a finish as much as a grout sponge will. How caked on is the dirt that your trying to clean?

Hi RC:

I live in the Midwest and the salt they drop here is brutal. Along with the salt is a tremendous amount of road grit/dirt because of all of the construction. It was really dirty.

I had to soak the car first at the coin operated (hand wand/mist/rinse only) wash and then used the two bucket system with ONR when I arrived home.

Any thoughts?
