Fine Scratches

I have a 2004 Oxford White Mustang, it has a lot of fine scratches and spiderwebbing, today I tried megs #80 with a yellow propel pad with 2 coats of carnuba moose wax, which I put on by hand, I didnt quite get them out. Should I move up to something more agressive.
 
I'd try hitting it again with #80, then pull it out into the sun and inspect the finish. I might even make a third attempt. If after three attempts, a lot of marring remains, I'd step up to #83.
 
IMO, if the scratches were indeed fine, you probably wouldn't be able to see them on a white car. I would try DACP or SSR2.5, and then follow up with #80 or SSR2.
 
I tried SSR 2.5 today on my car that came back from the body shop with freshly installed swirls. I probably should not have but it is my nature to do what I am not supposed to.



SSR 2.5 with the PC did not cut it. Im really getting tired of the PC I think I am going to work with rotary or nothing.

Try the 4" pads before you give up on the PC ;)
 
Well, at least you can take some consolation in knowing you can use the 6.5" pads (and the 4" ones too) on the rotary if you end up getting one. I really like the 4" pads for spot repairs with the Makita.
 
Last year I did a car that also came back from a body shop and new paint on the hood, fenders and front bumper. The body shop swirls looked bad but were shallow. I ended up needing the Menzerna triplets, a PC and PG (LC yellow), IP (LC Orange), FP II (LC White). It was alot of work for 4 panels but we got them all out.



It looks like you too will need something stronger than SSR 2.5. Maybe DACP, PowerGloss or the new Optimum Polish with a yellow pad.
 
I have a rotary Accumulator so that is good to know.



Jmsc, it cracks me up how body shops return cars to clients with rotary swirls all over them. I dont know who in their right mind would give a client their car back with those and why a client would accept that car.
