Exterior Trim Shine

I have not read much about favorite products for exterior rubber/vinyl. My Honda CRV has a lot of black trim, and I am looking for the best product to give a great shine that lasts a while.

I tried Meguiars Exterior Trim Detailer, and results are good. However, I do not like the aerosol can due to the overspray. I was going to try PBTR next, but I don't know if it is best for shine and protection as opposed to "restoring" worn down trim.

Any other suggestions?
 
IMO PBTR isn't that great for shine or restoring. Maybe I got a bad batch or something I dunno. Everybody like s it though. I've had a bottle of it for over 2yrs and have only used it 3 times .

Anyway , I love PB's NL on my trim for my Element. Its thee best looking stuff for big panels like ours. Its water based so a weekly application is needed or after a rain. And no greasy mess or silicones to ruin your washes or getting on your paint and windows.

I use a foam app to put on my NL . NL is great on all platics and vinyl. It makes it look brand new and clean instead of dressed up .

I like the PM TR allot I find it to clean the plastic and leave it looking new again.....I would make sure to buff good to make it even....I also like NL as well....

as long as you like the megs trim detailer, all you have to do is control your overspray.

over spray is always a problem, even if your using a spray nozzle. try putting some product on a micrfiber cloth or how about an applicator sponge that always works best and it will keep the product where you want it .


although, i havn't used the pva sponge yet, but it's been a favorite product for many here at dc.

as long as you like the megs trim detailer, all you have to do is control your overspray.

It's possible that you got one of the first version bottles. I understand that PB Trim Restorer has had the gloss boosted within the last year or 2.

Also, another factor to consider when deciding between TR and NL, NL is water based (as mentioned by Hawaiianelement) whereas TR has PD's. (which also means it shouldn't run off after a wash or rain like water based dressings would.)
 
Poorboy's Trim Restorer is the best product to restore , enhance , and make your trim rubber look new again. just bought 4 32oz bottle of it. Also Adams VRT is top notch for weekly maintenance. PB's NL is also good but adams VRT is a Much better IMO. ALso Adams IN & out Detail SPray is Awesome for a quick trim, rubber, vinyl detail.
 
I've had the best results on my V's trim with TR applied with a 1" foam brush and let it sit for a good 30 minutes. I can start at one end of the car and ususally take about 30+ minutes to do everything, so I'm pretty much ready to start buffing off where I started the application. I have found buffing with the PC/finishing pad/MF bonnet combo to give the best results with the least effort. TR has to be buffed thoroughly. I've also used the same method with VM.
 
I must've gotten one of the earlier bottles for sure. I thought I was crazy , or should I say YOU guys were crazy with the TR. Guess I got to toss my old one out .

I actually prefer the old formula of TR. It seems to react better with my BMW trim. However, the new formula looks better on my Ford trim.

Honda trim can be very finicky when it comes to dressings. I've seen people on this site recommending the use of a regular QD spray (like S&G) on CR-V trim. Is Element trim similar to CR-V trim?
 
Can you pick up any of this from advanced auto parts such as the meguiers stuff?

Ive been using some stuff in our garage that does a great job, but its almost empty so Im going to have to run out and get some more stuff.
 
Thier you will find a decent selection of Meg's. Thats were I get most of my stuff. Walmart as a decent selection as well. The stuff I can't find here I just order from Autogeek. Its here in a day.
 
Guys, is it normal to have to buff off the poorboys TR after use? I have ben using it and really like it, except for having to go back around and polish it off after it's dry. also if someone could recomend a product that helps to "blackin" faded trim? Thanks
 
I only use Poorboy's Trim Restorer on the outside. Dress it twice (10 mins apart), then wait a little bit and buff off the residue.
