Expensive Car Care

I got this from one of his affiliates here on Autopia:

Hi Henrik

He is no longer an authorised detailer but uses the range of Zymol products. However, he doesn't use exclusively these products; he uses whatever he finds the best for performance/price. He is a fan of P21S and Zaino, for example. His product list is very long and changes daily. But no, it's far from being all Zymol; he's winding down his Zymol association in all honesty.

Poor guy.............he'll never live this down. I'm sure he's drowning his sorrows in dollar bills...oops, I mean pounds lol!!

Aside from the fact that he charges butt-raping prices, why does he wax using his bare hands? Do other people actually do this? Is there some benefit by using just your hands?

Certain "High" Quality waxes have a chemical mixture that are natural and pretty "heavy". Warmth of your hand helps to apply the wax to the paint. Once you get a "hand" (:D :nana: ) of it, waxing without an applicator is slower.

Well, he only uses a single bucket wash system, which doesn't seem best, and he's washing in full sun, so one should assume he's using filtered soft water...

AFAIK this idea originated with Zymol. Swissol and Victoria Wax also recommend this method. As far as an explanation is concerned, I understand it has to do with the non-absorbtion of solvents by the skin as opposed to the absorbtion by MF etc. Somehow this affects the ease of application/end result . It also provides an unique experience; much more "hands on" - that ehances the bond with your ride! (Heh,heh :nervous:)

I think, if you're really interested, you should contact David at Victoria Wax. I think he could provide you with a much better explanation than I. :)

there was a psot awhile back about this. The reason he is only using 1 bucket is becasue the car was washed and detailed prior to the shooting of the clip. he was washing a car that was already clean. Also they decided the one bucket looked better on tv.

As for the in the sun thing, I have never been to england however i have been told there is always enough cloud that washing inthe sun is not a real issue :secret
