Duragloss or Collinite

Hello! Im looking to buy a diffrent LSP, Im loving the look of NXT paste, but wanna try something different for fun.

Im trying to decide between Duragloss (105???) and Collinite 476 or 845, Ill be using them on customer's cars so my first priority is durability, but i dont want somethingt that looks terible.

I think ill pick up some Duragloss AW and soap too.

Hi, i have used both 476 and 845,but i havn't used the duragloss so i can't coment on that.If durability is your goal, then either collinite is perfect, the 845 is a little bit easier to use,it spreads easier and further, but the 476 paste will last a little longer. Also,i would disagree with people who say it doesn't look very good,i like its looks, very warm on dark paints, gives good gloss and reflections, and it is surprisingly easy to use when applied thinly.your customers will be reasured with the products fantastic beading ability aswell.

I'll second the Collinite suggestion. But I haven't used Duragloss before either :) I use 476S, and I usually put 2 layers. The water beading is truly as good as new after 3 weeks and 2 washes with Meguiars GC. Small beads, immediately beading after contact with water. If you need durability, I'd go with Collinite.

I used collinite last winter...and I was very impressed with the durability....it held up fine all winter into spring..

I have been using DuraGloss this summer..but still may top the Duraglos with Collinite this winter...the use of salt here is tremendous..and I travel the turnpike every day...

My GF had DuraGloss on last winter and it held up nice..but she travels 4 miles to work..I do 50...

The new Duragloss 105 claims on the back of the bottle to last 1 year. That the longest lasting product DG has ever made, and topped with AW, it probably would last 1 year. If you are going to be using AW and #901 car wash soap, I'd suggest the 105.

I have 1 coat of 105 so far, and the beading is very very tight, and no signs of it even beginning to break down. Car is outside 24/7, and the 105 has been on about 1 month so far. The beading is some of the tightest I've seen in a while from ANY product.

Mike :)

I wouldn't really fully believe the claims that the manufacturer's make on their products. Collinite also says that their product lasts a full year. But in real life, it lasts around 6 months at most. Same with NuFinish, which I know for a fact is not true. It only lasts 3-4 weeks :)

Of course, I have a bias towards Collinite since I haven't used Duragloss yet, so my views may not be objective. I'm sure others who have used both will chime in. Maybe a combination of the two would be the best, who knows :)

Collonite looks good but when the carnuba is depleted from the finish the look will change.

you could top with Aquawax and wash with suragloss wash or really just use the Duragloss lineup.

As long as we're making comparisions, I've been wondering how 845 compares to 1000P. The new Duragloss stuff does look pretty interesting, too. For any one of these I'd be usually looking at it as a durable foundation for the winter and/or a base under a 'nuba topper.

Hijack!!!

please start yout own thread dude

I have Duragloss 111 on our pickup roof (without the 601 PBA). At about 3 1/2 months it's pretty much dead. Pretty decent durability for an OTC product in Summer. I got roughly the same amount of time out of Pre-VOC 845 in summer. 845 does better in colder temps.

you asked a question about Collinite vs Duragloss and you got an opinion on it. Calm down a bit. No need to get hot on a comparison over some stupid wax.

This is an interesting comment regarding either of these products, especially considering how a lot of folks here seem to use Colinite as the "gold standard" for LSP durability and you say #111 was similar. Do you have something else in mind that's not OTC when you say this? (Well, maybe the much-speculated Red Dot #49 if it ever hits the market ;) )

Carn00bie, seeing that you're new on the forum, believe it or not I was actually trying to do you a favor by tossing one more product into the comparision that has a reputation of fitting your desired qualities perfectly; durability and looks. I figured there were good odds you'd never heard of 1000P from FK1, but it's a perfectly viable option for you to consider with those criteria.

The one thing that did catch my attention in your original post in this thread, though, is talking about caring for customers' cars when you call yourself a noobie.

just a play on words, I do still have alot to learn though.

I live near a coal plant so anything I use gets a real beating. Every rain deposits dirt on the finish. 3 months for my environment is pretty good. Somewhere else the same products would probably last longer. From my experience Zaino beads the longest.

Dang, that does sound like a rough environment. I thought I had it rough just because I don't have a garage right now, but I don't think I'd care to swap.

Zaino? :doh Zaino!! Guess I had a brain fart for a bit there, Zaino just didn't come to mind when I asked my question. From what I've heard about 1000P I'd still like to see a comparision test for durability, or perhaps even with 2180. I'm going to try to argue that FK1 is more durable, but I'd like to see how it compares.

Have you tried the new DG 105 polish? I think it will likely rival Zaino beading and longevity. 105 is a step up from the 111 or 101 polishes.

No, I have 601/111 on our van and it beads pretty impressively at roughly 2 months. Without 601 111 lasts roughly 3 months. I got 4 1/2 months out of Z2pro with Z1 (ZFX is supposed to be even better.
