Down to just my rotary

UDM finally died. The shaft coming out of the head broke. My PC stopped working a couple months ago. Now I just have the Dewalt 849. Debating whether to get another DA buffer or just get the Dynabrade attachment.

I also have a nearly dead PC 7428 rotary that needs to be repaired (there is a shop locally that repairs Porter Cable tools) so if I do get the Dynabrade, I'll put it on the PC 7428.

Thoughts?

hey scott, what about the Flex? it seems like it would be the perfect companion with your rotary...

I have to agree, my Flex is definitely by go to tool unless I feel it won't get the job done fast enough. Takes a little getting used to to apply sealants but overall it's a great machine!

this would cut the time down twice as fast (especially on one-steps) and who knows he may not even use the rotary as much...

Flex is $270 and the Dynabrade attachment is $120...

if you had to repair your porter cable rotary and buy the dynabrade, how much would it set you back together?

Still less than a Flex. I don't *have* to repair the PC 7428 but it is always good to have a back-up on hand.

Don't forget, I had surgery earlier this month, took off 8 days after that and then we had two weeks of crappy weather. I only worked a total of 5 days this whole month prior to Christmas. :nervous2:

that's understandable, as if times weren't hard already... :(

Do you still have your Cyclo? I would think so! I like your idea with the Dynabrade attachment.

So, your arsenal would be the DW849, a high torque, super studly random-orbital (Porter Cable/Dynabrade combo), and the Cyclo.

What a unique but capable arsenal of machines.

I could live with that, but I never have owned a Cyclo...

I would think I'd feel a little outta place without a small random-orbital, like any of the Porter Cable R/O machines (7424/7335/7336). Or even a G110. I like to use either 3" or 4" pads quite a bit, and the Dynabrade wouldn't lend itself well to that!

As someone mentioned, Scott sold the Cyclo.

Scott, for what it's worth, I'd probably just pick up another PC since you've got the rotary covered. I mean, why spend that much money on a Flex? You can find a PC on Ebay for right around $100 including shipping. That is where I got mine.
