Yes, Black does have a certain wow factor for a few minutes after they're waxed.

I'll admit that I miss the "lower" maintenance with the Silver color...

One thing to remember is that silver and gray paint have a stealth function... They're harder

to see by other drivers because they blend into the blacktop. I was almost hit several times

by inattentive drivers when the sun was low on the horizon.

Would I go back to Silver if I had the option? Yup!

That's interesting I had a black miata and was rear ended three times twice at a stop light and once waiting to merge from an off ramp. And a bunch of near misses that in a less nimble/throttle responsive car than my rwd Miata, would certainly have resulted in at least one collision.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I just had to post after seeing this thread, because i was not too fond of silver cars before, but i find that the result can be quite rewarding. This was my first detail, let me know what you think?

I think all colors are worth the trouble. I mean, hey, a shiny car is a shiny car. The most impressive silver I have seen to date (in person) is Mike's (1CleanWS6) Lola. That is the first time that a silver car really wowed me. That car looks EVERY BIT as good in person as it does in the pics. Even my non detailing enthusiast buds were taken back by just how much better it looked than any of the other cars around it. I think it was wearing UPP at the time.

I think silver is worth the effort -and such an easy color to maintain.

Here's a quick shot of my silver STS with Zaino Z5/Z2 Pro on the paint.

I have an 04 Titanium Gray RX-8. Is there any noticable difference from the GT RX-8 to the Shinka as far as ride performance goes? Isn't it the same car with a suspension upgrade?

I sent you a PM :)

Yeah, Mazda silver impresses me more and more. When I first got the MPV I thought it was kinda blah compared to the Audis, but the more I see it the more I like it.

Lexus has a nice silver (like on the sedans in this thread) and the blah one like I saw on our recent trip...that blah one was on the retractable-top car..I don't know from Lexi, what is it, SC 430 maybe :nixweiss That color just *killed* the look of the car IMO.

Accumulator,

I wasn't too keen on Mazda silver when I first started detailing (only a little over 6 months ago). I was aggravated with the teeny metal flake and the light color. I've learned to work with it and get the best I can out of it. I think I know the color Lexus you refer to, it is ugly imho. My silver of choice would be the Honda S2000 dark silver, which I think is Silverstone. It is beautiful and reflects like a demon.

Have a great weekend, will be knocking back some Sea Dog Bluepaw Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale here. Perfect for hot weather. :woot2:

I love doing silver because it's kind of a stealth color. Nobody really excpects silver to stand out so when you take the time to do it well, people notice. Plus black done really reflective becomes a mirror and loses its 'color' at times (just MHO.)

Hi to all,

My first posting here at Autopia! I had dark colours for the last ten years or so, this year bought a silver car for the first time and not regretting the decision. I'm just starting to detail with a keener passion than I used to and a new car sure does make it easy :chuckle:

Silver does hide the dirt, even after two weeks and rain, it can still shine! I bought the car in June and applied a coat of Megs #26 on top of what is already there from the show room floor. After washing, Megs Final inspection.

Always look at Autopia for guides on which cleaner/sealer to use, there's certainly a lot of choice, this site certainly has some great support and encouragement.

Cheers for now,
