DJ Mayo and Greg Gellas attack a ZR1!!!

Greg Gellas

I'm Greg :)
I met up with DJ down in Maryland to correct the paint on a ZR1. The owner enjoyed wiping his car with quick detailer to get dust and debris off of the surface before he took it out for a spin. Of course it was a black car. There were some clear indications of his cleaning. Straight scratch lines that had formed from the wiping, and swirling through the paint was clear. There were also some deeper scratches throughout the paint. The car was very clean, just lots of scratches and swirls.

We started with a wash with 50/50 wash of dawn and CG Citrus wash and clear. Then pulled it in for inspection to see exactly what we had on our hands.

We both went to town with numerous products, and not limited to….It’s just what I remember.

Surbuff Pads

Meguiar’s MF Pads

LC Black pads

Meguiar’s 105

Meguiar’sD300

Menzerna 106FA

CG Blacklight

CG Lava Wax

Here’s DJ correcting the rear deck lid spoiler…;)

I dunno why the website resized them...I will work on fixing them...

They should be rezided properly if not let me know...:o

Dam good work. Amazed how well some of those scratches came out. What did you think of the CG Lava? Been considering getting some of it. Here it is a lot better than CG XXX.

That was really nice, you didn't mention how long it took, so I'll assume (long enough LOL) anyway, great job! BTW - how was Lava? I just ordered some CG MF pads, like them very much too, and now think I shoulda got Lava with them also.

Greg, the final foto is absolutely stunning. Very nice correction! I'm sure the owner is thrilled. Maybe you can coach them a bit on proper care/handling.

Thanks all...It was a fun car to do.

Of course that one was DJ's Photo :D Yeah, we explained why they looked the way they did, and that he caused it. He is ordering grit guards and buckets and soap and a bunch of stuff so he can do proper washes now.

Nice work on an awesome car! I could tell those were DJ's photos, he does a great job of presenting the final gloss.

Thanks all :) It was a fun time, me and DJ made it an experience...;)
