Detail King

I've bought several times from Detail King, orders ranging from $100 to $300. Excellent customer service each time, prompt shipping, very easy transactions. I'd have no hesitation ordering from them again.

I always wondered about Detail King. How do thier products compare to CG or the Meg's Detailer line?
 
I purchase from them quite often. They have some really good products and as stated before, the customer service is outstanding! I rarely wait more than 2 days for a package to arrive. Just a for instance: I ordered some stuff, and needed it in a hurry, so I chose 2nd day shipping. The sales associate "Bill" that is assigned to my account calls me up and says I can save on shipping by choosing UPS ground, and it will still get there within two days. I said ok, and he was right, it came within the 2 days and I saved about $20 on shipping.



Some items that I love from them: Their Wonder Lube clay lube, Brake-Up wheel cleaner (cleans like no other I have seen before), Tire/whitewall cleaner with darkening agent, and the Furz Off pet hair removal stone. I have also purchased the Tornador, which I love and I ordered my Mytee Extractor from them; and the list can go on and on. I did try their Vibra Cut compound and was not impressed with it, so I decided not to try any other polishes from them; but who knows, maybe some others are really good. Overall, I give them two thumbs up! :2thumbs:

I haven't purchased those types of things from them. I've purchased a Tornador, Tornador accessories and cleaning solution, a pressured sprayed, and a few other things.
 
remember there stuff is relabled products..which is fine..infact i ordered there speedglaze spray wax. and when i got it. i peeled off there label and it was topps all name.. there outa yonkers ny. so i actually started buy direct from them and cutting out the middleman....screw it......
 
they have some awsome produts as said above there degreasers and cleaners are very awsome up there with meguires and cg. there polish suck dont waste time with them, but like said there customer service is second to none. so i would not hesatate to order from them.

well i went to their training when i lived in NJ.. i wish i had that money still cause i dont think the training was worth it.. they had so many people in a class it was hard to get a grasp on certain things... bought their starter package.. and i was doing ok for a while but not happy with my results at all.. i wanted perfection and in lest time and steps.. so i have all their products still.. they are collecting dust in my garage... tried to sell them on craigslist but no takers.. if your interested in trying out their stuff i can get rid of mine for cheap.. i dont wanna use it anymore... they do have good customer support but i think to many people over complicate detailing and the paint correction process.. their training was basically a big sales pitch for their products.... i learned more from you guys on these forums than anything else.. wish i did this sooner before i started.

Was the training worth learning the techniques and steps involved in the various aspects of detailing ? Of course they'll use the own products and try to sell you them, that would be a given anywhere, but I'm curious about their technique training and what you thought of that.

they did not teach me anything crazy i did not already know.. when i first started i was afraid to use a high speed buffer cause i have seen the damage it does from the shop i worked at.. so i was doing my best to get great results without taking the risk of using the high speed.. so i went to their training looking to gain the confidence and knowledge to use the high speed and other tools to get great results with my buffing and scratch removal process.. well they had a large class of people at once and when it was time to work on some test cars they split us into groups.. i was working on an interior of a jeep that was pretty much spotless already on the inside.. so did not learn much there.. then when it came to the exterior.. they used some wet sanding on a test spot.. then tried to up sell their product to me by taking out those scratches... i was looking for something along the line of these.





if they were to give me a car like this and removed these with their products and machines.. then i would have gotten my money’s worth.. then when the class was over i spoke to the other group and it seems like he was taking out a lot more deeper scratches then we were.. so i think the other group got a little more out of if than me.. and that was just because i got the bad group.



i am looking into starting paintless dent repair training and i am nervous about these types of training places that take your money .. sell their products then say your now in business.. again i have learned more from talking with all of you then i did in any class room.. i feel learning from this site and just running tests on your car or a test car is the best training out there.



the quality of my work has sky rocketed since i stopped using detail kings products.. now i can walk away from a car feeling accomplished and satisfied... not just making the car shiny and then seeing all the imperfections once the sun hits it at an angle.. i was tired of trying the hide the scratches... again my 2 cents on the training.. others may have gotten something more out of it..

I have been using the polishes for a little while and the more i used them the more i was left with wanting more. I am now looking into menzerna. For beginers to kind of get the hang of things their polishes are good enough if you go for the sample pack. Once you learn more i would deffinately switch to a more commonly used line discussed frequently in this forum. Do a lot of research before making a final decision, cheap products bring cheap results. Good Luck!
 
I agree with donavin. I also went to the school hoping to learn proper rotary technique. I got a 20 min demo and learned nothing. The whole thing was a sales pitch. I actually watched an instructor burn the paint off a customers car during the rotary "demonstration". I felt like I was in another get rich quick Amway slaes pitch scam. If you are looking to learn how to start a business it may be helpful but as far as technique goes and proper product usage its pointless. I learned more form this forum than I ever did from them
 
Anyone ever used their clay bars ? They list 3 different types, a light, medium and heavy duty. I've tried Riccardo's blue clay on a very heavily rail dusted car, and it took me hours and hours to work with it, so I'm looking for something a bit more strong.
 
ive used there medium and heavy duty. heavy duty is pretty much so thick and hard to knead that it really doesnt do much. now there medium is like most others heavy duty. it removes a lot of contamints in a hury, but be warned on some paints it will marr.

Aside from being hard to knead and being thick, does it work well at removing contaminents ? Does it remove more than their medium bar ?
