Craftsman Creeper seats

These both look like an affordable price. I am looking for a seat or something on wheels when I do my lower portion of my car and when im doing wheels. I hate bending over and it hurts my lower back when im leaned over for that long. What does everyone use if they use one? I am thinking of the creeper seat. I know it has no back rest though, but atleast you can sit. I dont know how high it is because you cant adjust it like the other one.

I dunno...I have the square one with the height adjusment that was about $120, so those cheap ones scare me. The one I have, the wheels get torn up if you sit in it while you roll around on rough pavement, it's fine on a smooth garage floor.

Blown, have a look at Whiteside Mfg's website: shop on-line with whitesidemfg.com

These guys are the OEM for many of the units we're all familiar with. I bought the unit that doubles as a creeper and a seat w/backrest about 5 years ago...very nice!

Enjoy, and keep the kids away from it !! ;)

I have a round one like the one shown, just not Crafstman and mine was $19.99 from the local parts store.

your idea about how and why to use to use it are exactly the same conclusions i came to when i decided to buy one. went for the sears craftsman creeper seat. i guess you really get what you pay for; its a pos ( been having some issues with other "craftsman" stuff of late as well). wheels often bind, don't turn quick enough. have fell off it a few times when it did that. even worse, the seat is nothing but a piece of cheap thin PLYWOOD. i should have know better. i got the bad back and kness too and a creeper is definately the way to go for lower panel detailing and other jobs where you can work the creeper in. just look for a better one. i don't think i should have to pay $120 for one, but there has to be a middle of the road one out there.

oh....forgot to mention...that cheap plywood seat cracked and now there's a distinctive bow in it. debating whether its better to screw a scrap piece of hardwood onto it or just spring for a new one. will start looking around for a better one.

I use the Sears CM Mechanic's Seat and haven't had any problems and I am 295 lbs. I use it in my garage and the concrete driveway.

I just use the type of chair you see in offices and took the back off of it to make a stool. I can get low enough to get the rocker panels, tires and wheels and high enough to get get the hood and truck.
