"Correct" way to polish windshield?

Hello,



I'm interested in using my rotary polisher on my windshield. I have never done this before.



Can I polish a windshield or any other glass on my car with, oh.. let's say, Menzerna Super Finish & a LC white compounding pad, just like I would to paint?



I'm aware that there are dedicated glass polishes, but I wonder if a paint polish would be fine.



Has anybody done this without any negative effects?
 
Polishing with paint polish on glass is great, does a great job cleaning and usually for water spots. If you're trying to get light scratches or wiper tracks out, you'll need dedicated pads and glass polish. I have used the Diamondite stuff and gotten an improvement.
 
I actually polished two different windshields this weekend using the LC 5.5" glass polishing pad. On one I just used the LC pad on the other I used the pad and used some Rhodite Glass polishing compound I picked up from Eastwood.

The LC pad alone doesn't have a whole lot of bite for what I was trying to do.



I have this kit: Glass Polishing Kit Pro but I tried using the LC pad with the compound just to see how it work. It worked pretty well and is bigger than the felt buff the kit comes with.



Eastwood also carries a deep scratch glass polishing kit but it will remove/distort glass if you're not careful. I have this kit and have used it a few times. You will need to step down to the above kit/compound to remove haze from this kit.

I have also heard good things about Dimondite but have no experience.
