Claying Lubricant??

Hi guys...question for y'allses...

I've seen claying being done with not QD but rather a soapy water solution. Is there some kind of method I should use or a water/soap ratio? Do I just soak the car or put it in a bottle and spray on the necessary panels?

When I clay using soap-as-lube, I use a sorta-strong solution in a spray bottle. I only do this while I'm washing, and I rewash and rinse the panel after claying.

I've used my big wash sponge. I loaded it up with the soapy water and set it so the water from it will stream over the area I'm claying. As the surface starts to dry I give the sponge a gentle squeeze. Using a spray bottle is more efficient and is less messy than a sponge, but at the time I didn't have any spare bottles.

Based on my experiece in using a soap - water solution as Clay lubricant... My clay bar disintegrated.

Read on the previous posting entitled Clay Bar Disintigrated.

Griot's clay sorta disintegrates with the soap-as-lube but I still do it, just gotta get a feel for it. Works OK if you do it right, makes a mess if you don't. Haven't noticed such a problem with the Autopia Block clay.
