carnauba over FMJ

I'm really impressed with FMJ's durability so far, and it looks really good under certain light.



But sitting in the direct sun I think it looks a bit sterile, at least on my paint. I never really saw that look with AIO/SG/P21S



I'll be giving it a try with p21S one way or the other this weekend, but has anyone else tried it? I know CMA mentions they weren't impressed with topped FMJ but I want to see it for myself.

What color is your car? I know CMA has one picture of an Acura Integra GSR with FMJ that looks quite stunning. Also, what do you mean by "sterile" I keep hearing that term concerning KSG, but I just haven't been able to figure out what people mean when they say it.:confused:



You might want to just try a section first and see if you like it. e.g. just the hood. I know FMJ is like Blackfire. It won't adhere to carnauba wax. You'll mess up FMJ's durability.
 
By sterile I mean not like carnauba. :D



I know that doesn't help much, but now that I've seen it I know what it looks like. It just doesn't glow like carnauba.



The paint is "lunar mist silver" on a Toyota.

I know the folks over at GuruReports love P21S. Their silver BMW "glowed" after they put it on.



I remember CMA saying that Souveran & P21S "dulled the shine." I think in general, sealants are shinier than carnaubas, which is probably why CMA can say what they said. If you don't like shiny, carnauba is probably the way to go.



BTW, why P21S & not S100? Do you think there is a difference?
 
My take on the difference in â€Ëœshineâ€â„¢ between a polymer sealant and a carnauba wax-



Polymer- a flat shiny â€Ëœglowâ€â„¢ reminiscent of something bright and silver covered in Saran wrap

Carnauba- a three dimensional deep wet-looking gloss (now if it only had the durability of a polymerâ€Â¦)

So the general consensus is that a coat of carnauba will compromise the FMJ's durability?



Termigator, I could be wrong but I think P21S/S100 is the same product just different packaging.

That's the going rumor. That's why I have S100 & not P21S. Half the price!

Menzerna's FMJ is a polymer, providing you allow sufficient cross-linking time a Carnauba wax will not effect durability, bonding, and etc.



FWIW-this is my method

1.Clean paint film surface with a chemical cleaner / polish (Klasse All-In-One) with a grey / black foam pad, speed # 4.5-.5.0

2.Wash paint and dry thoroughly before the application of a polyner sealant ( Menzerna FMJ or Zaino Z2PROâ„¢ + ZFX)

3.Apply a low-solvent Carnauba wax last step product (LSP)- (a) Pinnacle Souverän contains natural oils that provide a deep gloss, and a â€Ëœwet-lookâ€â„¢ to the paint film surface, ideal for Red, Black or Porsche Speed Yellow and dark vehicle colours.

(b) Pinnacle Signature is perfect for metallic painted surfaces and for light colour vehicle paint
