can I use Colorx instead of AIO

After a little reading I think I want to give Klasse a shot, can Meguiar's Colorx be used in place of AIO before using Sealant Glaze?

also, who has the best price on SG?

never used colorx - but just applied aio on a black 300c and the results were amazing. i applied by pc with white lc pad at 4k opm. i think since aio also contains a similar acrylic barrier to the ksg, the ksg will bond better to a finish preped with its sister product than it would to a finish preped with color x, especially since color x contains fillers.

ColorX is just as good at cleaning as AIO. I've used both on oxidised paint and dirty chrome via PC.

Only thing is AIO can go under anything. Even Zaino.. ColorX cannot. It has slight filling abilities along with a few oils that make it a real looker under carnuabas, but not soo friendly under sealants.

i dont remember getting that feeling from the year i've been on this site... maybe you'd get that feeling on meg's online

now the reason i think that wont work is that colorX contains a bit of carnauba wax, oils and fillers that may prevent Klasse SG from bonding to the areas.

And NXT does have a little bit of cleaning agent to it so it may remove some of you application of colorX

But everything I have read here says that Color-X is a polish and that if its used as a wax it wont last at all. In that case I dont care if I remove some of Color-X because I want to seal it using NXT. Again under the impression that NXT is a LSP not a cleaner wax. So if NXT has some cleaners wouldnt it remove itself if you were going 2 or more coats?

I've had excellent results with ColorX, especially on older single stage paint. I just finished an 84 Lambo Countach that had HORRIBLE paint (some of which could not be repaired at all...roof, scoop, wing). I used #83 for several hours correcting where I could, then ColorX.

Here's a pic of the results

thats some nice paint . . . wow - MG did all that hu? impressive. What did you use to top off your polish . . .

fdizzle: the paint correction took almost 10 hours! One of the big problems with this car was the areas where neither a pc nor a cyclo would fit. I had to do a lot of hand polishing and waxing.

The 3 major products I used were: #83 + ColorX +M21.

wow - good work man . . . just by the pic i can see how some of those panals would present a challenge. . . . does the color x work well on the PC ? Dusting, Hazing? Orange or white pad?

Color X and AIO are my favorite one-step/cleaner products. Due to its blended carnauba/polymer base, I like to use Color X as prep for waxes. I use AIO as a base for pretty much anything (especially sealants).

In my experience, Color X has such limited abrasive cut that it's practically zero. It's great at removing oxidation but won't touch most of the swirls out there. IMO, swirl removal with Color X is due to the pad. Application technique is very flexible and varied - you can work it in like a polish till it goes "opaque"...This enables the deep cleaning functionality. You can also treat Color X as an LSP an apply with a finishing pad. Removal in any case is easy with very little dusting...Durability is about 1.5 months. Hope this helps...MCA
