BMW E34 Quick Detail w/ D151

New member
Had to send my E34 back to the workshop for the inspection and to attend to some minor issues. As usual, this is how the car came back.

The stains were quite bad so washed with APC 1:10 and clayed with ONR lube.



As I wanted to only do a quick detail, polishing and wax with D151. Sealed with Opti-Seal. The results were pretty good for a quick detail.

It turned out really nice. It looks like all it need was a good wash though. Thats one if the things I hate about white cars. No matter what you do to them the results you get arent always that much better then when you started unless the finished was trashed or oxidized.



I have a white car also and its such a bore to detail.

Yea but I'd rather them return cars dirty then for them to wash it and really marr the paint all up.
 
did you send the car into the shop in that condition? doesnt seem like that would happen from a normal service....



after look good, but the befores look like owner neglect, not shop doing!

I had them painted a anthracite grey. They look MUCH better now then when they were silver.

That's what I told them. They wanted to wash it up before returning it to me and I told them please not to touch it. I hate to think of the damage they would cause.

Interesting choice in a motor for the bimmer! I would have thought you would have gone with an e36/e46 or m5 (e52, I think) v10 to keep some sort of BMW motor.



Just out of curiosity, why the particular Toyota motor with the twin turbos when you could have achieved the same results a BMW inline six or even the v10 and not have to worry about problems with the turbos in the future?

The 1JZ puts out about 280hp and to get similar results with a 'normal non-M' BMW engine it would have to be the older 4.0 liter V8's. The 1JZ's are also veeerrryy cheap if compared with the bimmer motors. The V10 from the latest M5 would have been the best but then again they aren't exactly cheap. :)



But the main issue with larger capacity engines in Malaysia is that the road tax which we have to pay every year is dependent on the cc of the engine and increases exponentially. So the 1JZ is a 2.5 liter which is around USD250 per year. A 4.0 liter V8 would be around USD1900 per year and the ultimate 5.0 liter V10 would be around USD3200 per year.

Thanks. It is looking pretty white at the moment. The bad thing about white paint is that if it rains...... not so white anymore.
