Blitz vs. Meguiars #26

Do you have a medical degree? Do you have any other information that backs up the assertion that this Meguiar's product is "harmful to your health"? I'd like to see research. Testing.

The implication, of course, is that Zaino is not "harmful to your health", correct? Come on. Zaino is made of chemicals too. I'm sure that if you looked at the Zaino MSDS, you'd discover that it is made of chemicals too, not just berries and tree leaves.

Dude,

I don't need a medical degree to prove anything, all it takes is a little common sense and research. Do a bit of research on these chemicals and reading MSDS sheets and you'll find out the same. FYI, the Meguiar's #26, just to name ONE, contains HEAVY ALKYLATE as the main bulk of the product. Do a little digging and you'll find out that this particular chemical is also commonly used in pesticides and fuels, just to name a couple. It doesn't take any degree to figure out if long term effects could harm your health or affect a paint finish. Does Zaino contain chemicals? Sure, but they are NOT the heavy solvents found in most carnaubas, or in particular #26. Just because Zaino contains chemicals as well doesn't mean they are anything like what you find in your common carnauba wax. I don't put 100% faith that just because Meguiar's has been in business for years that they make environmentally friendly products, to me that would be plain blind. After all, has that been the case in other industries that seem "safe" like medical drugs or implants or anything else you can name? NO....

All I'm saying here is that the heavy solvents found in many car care products aren't as safe and friendly as the makers would have you believe....take it how you want...I just present the facts...

The Meguiars clear coat paint cleaner (consumer line) says on the back has known cancer causing stuff in it..

Meguiars Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner

Warning:

This product contains crystalline silica, which in airborne particles of resirable size, is known to cause cancer.

#26 or Blitz i would say Blitz.

Zaino, Blitz, #26, #20, MGC and Klasse all contain Aliphatic Hydrocarbons or Petroleum Distillates that are known to be cancer causing chemicales.

I would also say blitz

#26 is a good product, but unless you are looking for something you can pick up easily at most carparts store, I would always recommend blitz over #26.

The #26 was always a #)*%^* to remove for me. I had a man and his wife who owned 4 Vettes. They ensisted on the #26, it always took me twice as long to do their vehicles...(if I was lucky)

If you were using the paste version, switch to the liquid #26. Use thin coats, let it set about 10 minutes then it pretty much wipes off-not as easy as Souveran of course, but still reasonably easy.

Your average smoker has a lot more to worry about in regard to carcinogens and health related issues then your average detailer who is using Meguiars or Blitz. So for all those smokers worried about the effects of Meguiars or any other wax - have no fear smoking will kill you long before they ever have a chance.

Good Day.

I used Meguiar's #26 paste wax this morning on a few panels of the Passat. On my first try, I applied it with a foam applicator and let the wax dry for 10 minutes. The application was okay and spread easily when I used circular motions. However, removal was a pain; I had to use QD and lots of rubbing to get all the streaks off.

Then for no reason at all, I felt like applying it with my fingers. It went on easily, if not slowly- it took about 45 seconds for just the upper-door. I removed it immediately after applying it and it came off with ease. It wasn’t in any way as rewarding as Souveran.

Then what if I warmed up the wax a bit? I put the can of #26 under a 40w halogen lamp for approximately 1 minute. I used a foam applicator this time, and it spread quickly and very smoothly. Removal was even easier than using the fingers, given that I could get thinner coats with the foam.

But I think the most important trick is to remove it as soon as possible.
