Blackfire/Zaino - Wax

I've searched the forum and read various threads about Blackfire and Zaino (which I'm using on my car).

Blackfire users are topping it with carnauba to achieve a deeper shine. OTOH, carnauba is taboo for Zaino users.

Correct me if I'm wrong, both BF and Zaino are polymere based sealants.

But how come Zaino can't be topped with a wax but BF can be ? Doesn't BF have bonding problems when applied over a wax as this would be the case with Zaino ?

I'd appreciate any input.

Regards

IIRC, Sal Zaino has said that putting wax over Zaino will break down the Zaino over time and as such it was not a good idea to do so. As for exactly _why_ this is so, we'd need a chemist and a lab to figure it out!

Generally, once you've applied wax over a polymer you have to remove the wax or wait for it to go away before applying more polymer. As far as I know, this applies to the BF products as well.

hope this helps,

Robert :)

Truth be known, Z can be topped with carnauba. I've done it on my black 911 twice with great results. In fact, I've even gone back an added more coats of Z5 two weeks after I applied Souveran (needed to be washed off with Z7 first). Most Z users are purists, and wouldn't think of doing this. I like to experiment.

With Blackfire, I've found that there's no problem getting the polish to go over Souveran. I'm guessing that BF protectant removes the wax.

P.S., If you're happy with the finish provided by Z, BF or K, why add a topper at all?

me too :) Thanks for encouraging.

Since I've no access to Souveran here, I'll go with the One Grand Blitz.

I'm seeing more and more cars which are detailed with carnauba and they kinda look to have a deeper shine than my car.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Now, time to order carnauba.

I'll post pictures when I'm done.
