Black XLR Roadster

I received a phone call from a client/friend from Southtowne Motorplex in Newnan. That they needed a car done. It was a showroom car. It has never been waxed/polished, while on the showroom floor. I was told it was a 2006 XLR Roadster Cadillac. I wasn't able to get down there for about a week. The XLR was always just wiped down with some quick detail spray. The new owner of the car, said it had some swirl type marring on the car. So When I arrived, they already had the XLR in a bay waiting for me to get started. The car was covered in road dust. Had 200 miles on it already

I pulled out the buckets, used some ONR one panal at a time. WW to dry them

Taped of all the trim, tail lights, head lights, then got to busniess

Poorboy's Trim Restore on all trim

Zaino Z-5 pro x2

It is built on the C-6 corvette frame

It looks great, but why did you tape off the trim when there was no polishing? Im pretty sure Z5pro doesnt stain trim.

I used FPII w/ a white LC pad. And didn't want any kind of mishap

one of the executives from work rolled up in one of these a few months ago...i didn't even know what it was at first. great looking vehicles, especially in person! nice work on this one too!

There is a "timeless car design" thread on this forum somewhere and perhaps one day that ride will be considered timeless. I love the looks of that thing. I would LOVE to drive the V version.

What the heck is IPII??

It is VERY expensive. If you send me $500 in unmarked bills I will get you some. :getdown

I liked the XLR when it first came out but it is going down quickly in my books as I learn of the tribulations a friend is having with his.

Beautiful job! :)

Haven't had a chance to detail one yet, any thoughts on the build quality?

Thanks Scott

On the build quality, it is a GM product. Up at the plant they make 18 XLR's a week. I have heard that if the battery dies you are screwd. Every computerized thing needs to be reset, or replaced.

They cant give them away up here it seems. I was looking at an 06 Vette at he local Checvy - Cadillac_ Hummer dealer, They tried to steer me into the XLR because they could "do it for about theprice of the Vette'. I was just looking anyway, but I'd much rather have a base C6 than that... *thing*.

I actually really like the XLR,, especially the coupes (OKA hard tops).

really nice lines 'in person'. pics dont do it for me,, but when you do a walkaround...the thing looks real nice.

brings me back to the REATTA and ALLANTE days....No, they werent big hits,, but some liked them,, fewer bought them,, and mostly built for the execs who dont give a crap about it anyway.

likely most will end up in 'rich guys' collection (near the back) purchased after its 2-3 year depreciative years.

my piddly .02 worth
