Aquapel

I just wanted to say you guys were dead on about aquapel being the best. I've tried rainx and diamondite and they don't compare. Today I was driving through a rain storm on the interstate and the water was just flying off like crazy...and when I arrived at work my windshield was completely dry (not less than 2 minutes after I had cleared the rain). :xyxthumbs

I can't remember how long Rain-X lasts in comparison, but Aquapel lasts a freakishly long time too!

I've only seen it on Ebay recently. Hearing all of this, I'm sorry I ever bought the Diamondite, haven't even used it once yet. Is that STP Visionblade equivalent long gone off the market? maybe can still find some by chance in a closeout store like Big Lots?

Yep I bought diamondite...really regretted it. As everyone has said the only good thing about diamondite is the clay...the cleaner streaks and the sealant does nothing (in my experience anyway). I went back and followed the diamondite instructions exactly and it still didn't work for me.

As for the aquapel, I got it from speedymetalpolish.com. It was 9.50 a piece. Kindof expensive but so worth it...

Aquapel is amazing. How good is it? Well, I've had it on 3 cars for 3 months, and each them still performs equivalent to a brand-new Rain-X treatment (perhaps even better)!

Downside is it only seems to be packaged in "applicators" which are just barely enough for a car and run low if you aren't super economic with your application.

Revisiting this topic,

I wonder if you could top Diamondite on the windows with the Aquapel or would that lead to bonding issues?

Well seeing how well the water bonds to the surface after a diamondite treatment, I am sure aquapel would bind just fine :p

But I bet you could take the diamondite spray clay and use that, and maybe some regular clay and maybe try some dawn or car paint cleaner? I think I read somewhere that diamondite is a polymer so you would think it would be similar to zaino, etc. as far as removal. Unlike RainX which is some kind of silicone

Used Aquapel for the first time today and will get to judge wet performance tomorrow.

Question:

On many to most of the aquapel application posts, people report a bit of hazing, perhaps some bubbling, and difficulty removing the aquapel. I applied the aqp only to the windshield and got two passes out of the applicator. Prior to the application, I used the following cleaning routine: IG, alcohol w/ sponge, IG, clay, IG. My concern is that after I let the aqp sit on the windshield for @5 minutes, it wiped right off with a mf, no hazing, no problem. Also, I didn't ever see any bubbling; I did see the wet surface begin to look almost like it had frozen. Did I wait too long, not long enough, prep poorly, or luck out? Thanks.
