Any Body Still Use Goldclass Wax ???

I am seriously thinking of going back to GOLD CLASS wax because it is so easy to find,

And is cheap to buy, and not to mention real easy to use and leaves a great shine. I know

It is not the most durable, BUT I like to wax every three to four weeks anyways.

So I was just curious if any body still uses this stuff.

And also do you think there will be any bonding problems putting it over #16

Thanks…..BMG

Hey there BMG...I actually use the new version of GC wax (although not regularly). The old stuff was definitely subpar, but the new version is of a different beast. I completely agree that the shine and reflectivity is very high in the new GC and durability is about ~1.5 months on a daily driver (rated by slickness and water repulsion). In regards to your last question, GC does have slight cleaning ability, but I find them almost insignificant. Although I have never tried your proposed combo (I should tho...), I do not believe you will have any bonding issues. In addition, I do not believe the "cleaners" in GC will greatly diminish the layer of #16. IMO, #16 is Meg's best LSP, so please post your experience. :2thumbs:

I gave away my bottles of the old version of Gold Class. It was a PITA to use in my experience. I haven't tried the new version.

I still use the old paste, and it is a very "rich" wax and it leaves some protection, but I refer to it as more of a 'show' application. Don't use it with a PC though..dusts like hell.

I love the look of the Gold class wax but it was a PITA to work with compared to other products i've tried. Haven't tried the new GC though.

I'm using the new formula on my 05.5 black Jetta. With some good prep work, it is up there with some of the best. I am going to apply some Mother's Relections over it this weekend, just for kicks. We'll see how it works out!!

I do, simply because it is what I have. I use the liquid. Gloss is great, but it does need to be reapplies every 6 weeks. I don't mind because I find it easy to work with, but I do plan on putting a nice polymer like NXT on before the winter.

Maybe I find it easy because of my use of pastes in the past.

If you are going to be buying something new, and easy to find, try NXT if you havent. It is really excellent.

Most pastes that are popular here are easier to use than Gold Class liquid. I've been using pastes almost exclusively for the last year, and I tried Gold Class about a month ago, since I had a bottle sitting at the back of my shelf. I couldn't believe how much of a pain it was compared to what I had been using. I almost quit halfway through!

I use GC paste, which is the old formula. I agee with the previous comments that it is a PITA to buff off but it does yield good reflective results. I still have an unopened bottle of liquid that I will try as soon as I am through the paste.

The old one says, "Our most reflective wax ever". The new one says, "Our most reflective Gold Class wax ever!"

Even though I haven't seen the new formula packaging a member mentioned on another thread that the old formula has the Mercedes (or MB lookalike) on the packaging and the new formula has something different.

I can't comment on the New GC but for OTC IMO you should give Mothers Reflections Top Coat a try- easy to use and a great reflective shine

I have a bottle of the liquid that I am trying to kill off. I have used it on my mom's car and the in-law's cars when I have detailed their rides. It's an OK wax.

I haven't used my original Gold Class liquid "since, oh before you were born". :lol

I think the last time I used mine was in the summer of 2003. Then I discovered Autopia. Since then I've found numerous products that I like far better than GC (many among Meguiar's own arsenal). I've only tried the GC liquid, not paste, and only the old formula.

Anyway, now IMO:

#26 > GC

#20 > GC

NXT > GC

EX-P > GC

UPP > GC

Souveran > GC

P21S > GC

I also have Natty's and #16 that I haven't even tried yet, but I suspect they too are > GC. :D
