Another Meguiars G110 bites the dust

We have killed four in a year. Two of them are still "dead" in the cabinet. I don't have time to ship them back, wait for new ones, etc. I just figure that it's a lesson learned--no more G110's for me.



I have two OG PC7424 still going strong!

Wow, this from the guy who was polishing with a folded up terry cloth towel for years. :) Then goes to the DA then finally to the rotary.



I guess you can teach an old detailer new tricks. Do you use your cyclo anymore?
 
If you like the PC and G110's you'd love the Makita BO6040. Especially if you're a pro. Much more power, doesn't bog and just a rock solid machine overall. Anymore my PC only gets used for 3" polishing and applying poli-seal w/ 5.5" pads.

I don't even have my Cyclo anymore. Not that much power over the PC and with the Edge system, $40 for each pair of pads doesn't make financial sense.

That's as expensive as a Flex. :soscared:



If anything, I'll end up having my PC 7428 rotary fixed and get a Dynobrade attachment for it.
 
i'm sorry, i wouldn't give a company 3 chances like that, but if it's under warranty, then so be it. Good luck man, 3rd times the charm?!?!

I bought the G110 in March, if I get to March next year and still have issues, I'll get a different machine.

i asked griots CS and they said the lifetime warranty would be more for the casual user and not for someone (professional use) who uses it day in and day out. they would replace it once, probably twice, but after the third time i'm sure they will start to wonder... :aww:

My guess is the G110 technically wasn't made for the pro market, more for the hobbyist market. I am guessing Scott's G110 went through several all day polishing marathons that the tool just wasn't built for.



I am impressed that Meg's is replacing it for free though. If he is having to buy a new one each time then he might as well just buy a Flex. Yeah, it is $275 but I am guess it would outlife several G110's and make it worth it. Also its increased power and cutting ability would probably make one steps that require a DA much faster, which for a pro detailer is huge.

First two wouldn't have lasted a casual hobbyist 6 months.



My first PC lasted 2 year, my UDM nearly as long. Plus I don't use the G110 for any serious correction, I use my rotary.
