Alright the Mother's product I was using with poor results was the Mothers M&A polish. After trying to work with it some more, I come to the conclusion that it simply was not aggressive enough to cut the oxidation I had. I had to swing by Wal-mart last night for other reasons, so I decided to pick up a can of E1 Never Dull.
E1 Never Dull
Application - very easy to use and apply. Tear off a pinch in one hand with a clean terry in the other. Work with never dull then clean and wipe with terry.
Results - Never dull did a good job of removing alot of the oxidation and restoring the luster and shine back to my neglected polished aluminum components (ie. Valve cover, intake manifold, fuel rail, thermostat housing, turbo compressor, blow off valve and throttle body). Note I said good, not great. These parts have been neglected for a few years so the finish really needs a more aggressive polish, or more elbow grease (ie die grinder) or a combination of the two, in my opinion.
Conclusion - I am very happy with the Never Dull. While I will certainly seek better results with work work and perhaps a more aggressive polish, the Never Dull seems like an excellent maintenance product, as its so easy to use.
