'89 Vette Convertible-Lotso f Pics (No 56K)

He can probably have those wheels refinished. I hate chrome wheels on newer Corvettes (C4 and up). It doesn't look as purposeful as aluminum. I also love the style of the 88-90 wheels, but I think the '90 was the pinnacle with the exposed lug nuts and lighter weight. :)

Also, that detail was great, the car looks incredible!

Thanks Aurora,

My dad looked into refinishing a few years back, never followed up on it. At least one of the wheels suffers from nasty curb rash too :( so I guess if he wants to do anything with them, he'lll just replace them.Guess we disagree on the chrome option.

Those wheels can be a paint to clean, especially trying to reach the insides of the rear ones. All in all, when done, they are worth the effort :up

WOW BILL! :xyxthumbs

Killer job :) That red looks awesome. I think the p21s topper will add nicely to the finish.

Plus, you did a great write up to match.

I'm sure your old man must have been thrilled.

I really like that wheel style and those engines are always neat to look at.

If I get the cyclo, the "bill" :lol :p will be in the mail cause it'll be your fault :D

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you everyone for all your compliments!

I haven't done a full detail in a long time. I recall that unique good feeling now that just can't be replicated by routine maintenance detailing jobs :up

Nice Bill. One question; Armor All?

Ha, my Dad had an '89 with targa top. Black. He bought it in LA and drove it from the lot back up to Sacramento.

I wonder what working on late '80s American paint is like. All I've ever worked on is Japanese and German paints from the '90s and newer.

This Cyclo business. you guys are pissing me off. I mean, I was happy with my PC, but all this Cyclo talk has me thinking...

really nice job Bill! :xyxthumbs

i remember my first counter with one of those C4 vettes. i was 15, working at a gas station, guy comes in with his nice vette, wants the oil and such checked. open the hood, and bam! the fattest tire is right in front of me. i was shocked at how huge they looked! :shocked mind you this was like 14 years ago. :o

Hi Beau,

Yeah AA isn't the monster it once was. I alternate sometimes between that and 303. This 'Vette is a lot easier to polish than my '89 Deville:mad: I've come to the point where I would likely need a rotary but then I'm not sure ifI'd be in danger of compromising the paint. I like the philosophy of keeping it original even if it has defects. After all, it's considered flawless by so close 100% of people except for stringent Autopians :o
