'63 Black Corvette Split Window Coupe....

This was a paint correction on a "Survivor" original 1963 Corvette Coupe, 327/340hp. Original paint, 72,000 miles.

The paint was oxidized, but I've definitely seen worse.

Process:

Washed with ONR
Claybar with Zaino Clay
M105 by PC7424XP with LC Orange
M205 by PC7424XP with LC White
IPA wipedown
Z5P (ZFX'd) x2

Very rare indeed with a black combo for a 63 Split Window Corvette. Another great save by Mr. Luster! looks great Bill:drool5:
 
VERY nice work, as always, Bill. One question, is the M105 and M205 "dummy proof"? By that I mean, when using with the PC7424, can you possibly burn the paint beyond major repair? I have some scratches that the BF Polish wouldn't get out, but I'm always paranoid to get anything too abrasive.

And......don't you ever get a customer with a Yugo to detail? How do you always get these pristine classics?

I don't know if anything is dummy-proof!!!! I've never seen anyone burn any paint with a PC using any polish or compound. That doesn't mean it couldn't be done. I've seen some VERY thin paint that I barely touched and it nearly went through, so every case is different.

But the PC is probably the safest machine you can use.

As to your second question... never a Yugo, but I have done some pretty nasty mini-vans. I don't write them up as much because they don't do much for me. Now Vettes and classics? Oooohhhh Yeeaaahh!:thumbup:

Awesome work my friend on (IMO) one of the epitomes of Americana, up there with Apple Pie and Baseball...
 
great work on a great car! It's nice to see an "original". So many people have started doing "resto-mods". I can understand why people like that as well, just great to see a real survivor.

I wish I could get 1 of those classics for every 20 disgusting minivans I get. I would settle for that and be happy:clap:

I hate seeing a Mini-Van pull up. But I need to do some every once in a while so I don't get spoiled!!!:w00t:
 
Very nice work Bill. It had to be a labor of love working on a classic like the split. I got to play with the F-88 Olds once and did not want it to end.
