Oh god...gage me with a spoon. This car is disgusting and by far the worst interiors to ever grace the pages of Autopia. Epic interior reconditioning thread right here! Your pics show the real story. The video he gave you made the mold infestation look way better. This isn't just a "I don't know how my car got moldy" situation. This has got to be from a major flood/water ingestion, not someone leaving 1 too many rotten tuna sandwiches in their car for a week. Did you ever fingure out the cause & origin? How did it smell? I couldn't of done a better job myself! Glad to know it all worked out!

Apparently, the firewall has a leak due to shoddy aftermarket installs, as per the customer. Its not for me to say either way ;) It smelled pretty dam musty in there, runny nose with a mask on isn't fun.

David, I truly appreciate the help and advice. Without your thoughts I wouldn't have taken this job.

I hope you explained to them that there is probably a large amount of mold that is still lurking inside the car as a result of not entirely gutting the interior and cleaning top to bottom.

Not a car I'd ride in, even after that amazing transformation you did!

I did assure him that I can't guarantee complete remediation without removal. He declined the option of removal of interior stuff. Just gotta do what the customer wants...:D

Wow that has to be the ultimate mold interior that I have seen . It actually looked ike it was fabric and not leather . You are a brave man to tackle that one . The outcome was AMAZIIIIIIIIIIIING to put it lightly .

Cheers ,

Jean Paul

WOW, hats off to you!

I am sure the owner declined seat removal due to the fact that they plan to get it presentable and selling it quickly before the mold comes back.

Another thing that had me scratching my head is that why would someone store an Audi All Road for the winter? Additionally, people who store cars for the winter are usually enthusiasts and by all the trash laying around the vehicle it was clear this owner was not an enthusiast.

Sorry for my ramblings but that’s just the analytical part of me thinking too much.

Great work turning a sow’s ear in to silk purse

My thoughts exactly.

An amazing turnaround, but I'm afraid that without first fixing the firewall problem and then disassembling the interior to clean EVERYTHING, I'd still stay away from the car.

Ho. Lee. Crap. I think Barry Theal's Mercedes detail has just been demoted to second place in the "Most dramatic before/afters" list. Congrats.
