While obviously dramatized, it 300 is based on actual events, namely the 300 (or so Spartans) who fought an entire army for days.

On my "To be watched" list: Platoon, Act of Valor, Tears of the Sun, We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down (saw it once I think, but it's been quite a while)

Seen them all... im an extreme movie buff. Actually re-watched BHD last week myself for first time in 4 years or so and it was awesome. Watched Act of Valor this morning oddly enough and i must say i was EXTREMELY impressed. (fast start and keeps your attention) Acting not the greatest (these are actual Active Duty Navy Seals) but as far as action, story line, technology/military intel used its in my top 10 war movies overall. Obviously not based on actual events like saving private ryan, bhd, fmj, and all the others still an awesome movie. Platoon is classic so watch that quickly, We Were Soldiers is also one of my favorites.
