The new ride...2012 Edge "Sport"

YNOT

Poorboys Rules!
We've officially gotten rid of our 2006 Mercury Mariner. She's been replaced with a 2012 Ford Edge "Sport"...dark blue pearl metallic. This baby's completely loaded...3.7L Duratec V6, 305HP, 6-speed SelectShift automatic, heated leather seats, panoramic sunroof, SYNC, nav, 22" wheels, rear view camera, blind spot monitoring...the works! We've never owned a car this loaded...never owed so much on a car either...hehe.

We literally drove it off the lot at 9:00 last night, so I haven't been able to get any good pics other than a few on the lot while I was waiting. A complete detail and proper photo shoot is coming in the next week or two. We've gotta take it on a road trip this weekend so I'll have no time to clean it...just lots of behind-the-wheel time.

So, for now, here are a few pics I snapped at the dealer last night finishing it up...

No plans for it as of yet, other than I'll likely tint out the front side windows to match the rest and maybe a tinted banner across the front window. Still need to start researching what things are available for it. I would like to paint out the grill to match the blue. The pearl black is cool...but I'd really like it to be blue.

Hope you like it. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Oh, and this is what we got rid of...

Thank God for no more black although this blue isn't going to be very easy to take care of either, really. I wanted silver but no more 2012's were available.

Nice ride and congrats...My sister in law has one and they are really a nice ride.

I'm thinking of getting one this summer...those rims stock? they don't look like it

Thanks!

Yes...the "Sport" edition comes with 22's and sport tuned suspension.

Not sure of the bolt pattern, but if the 20's from our Mariner fit, I may run them in the winter to save these 22's from the elements. Our old 20's are already showing signs of 'age' anyway after 6 years of use.

Wow, great color and sweet wheels!!! Congrats on the new purchase!

Thanks Todd!

I just went and checked out Ford.com. Wow what a really cool ride, they just keep coming out with cooler and better stuff!

that looks pretty sharp!. im still wondering why dealers think that greasy nasty plastic looking tire dressing looks good....hopefully you did not get the free swirl package!

That is one of the rigs we have been eyeing as a replacement for our 'Exploder'. Every time I see one with the Sport package I just think it sure is sharp. Love the look, and the color & wheels…. WOW!. Great choice!

For the most part we are 'empty nester' now, and really debating the need/desire for a larger car. Really tossing on what direction to go. There are so many very nice vehicles out there, pro's and cons to all of them, but on a longer road trip having a larger vehicle sure is nice.... I will be interested to hear how you like it after you have a few seat miles.

I'm so glad to see one here on the forum. I have my eye's on one, but it has to wait because of my kid's college bill. Thanks for sharing it here with us!:bigups

Thanks everyone. I haven't driven it yet...the wife is letting me drive it to work tomorrow so I'll then be able to see how she runs.

I'm excited...even though I wanted white or silver, I'm always a fan of blue. I know it won't be as easy to care for as white...just hoping it's not as much of a pain in the a__ that black was. These "Sport" editions only come in white, silver, red, black or blue and the wife wanted no more red vehicles and I wanted no more black.

Hopefully in the coming weeks I'll be able to tear into it and give her a good cleaning and get myself acquainted with it more. And yeah Pockets...she'll be getting some Poorboy's soon. ;)

I haven't been able to put a halogen on it, but in the little bit of direct sunlight I saw in it last night, I didn't see any horrible swirls and no dents that I've discovered yet.

I'll be sure to post more feedback on what I think of it after I get to drive it but as far as overall appearance and features...this thing is tops over anything I've ever owned. Makes my 92 GMC look like an antique...hehe.

Drove it in to work this morning. It's awesome...comfortable, quiet, minimal road noise, the 3.7L offers lots of zip on the highway...and the voice activated feature kicks ass. I don't even have to search the radio for my favorite stations...just press 1 button on the steering wheel, call them out and they come on.

Love this thing!!
