You are not safe on the internet

I remember this back when it happened, but I thought it would be interesting to look it up again. Here is a good summary with a link back to the original thread. It might interest you to know that as of a few minutes ago that thread had over 1,500,000 views on it.

You are not safe on the internet. I would highly suggest that you do not post stories about racing you've done or illegal modifications you have on your car anywhere on the web. People can and will find you if they want to. Now that there are stricter VOC laws regarding what you can use and can't use in your state I would even hesitate to admit to using certian products online. Detail City is one of the premeire websites on Auto Detailing on the web right now. I know that if I wanted to crack down on people using banned products then this is one of the places I would do my homework on. I don't know if it is illegal or not to use products that can't be purchased due to VOC regulations, but I would make sure before I posted about it.

I will proudly state that:

1: I have never taken a client vehicle out on a test drive.
&
2: #16 is my favorite wax, come on VOC people, crack down!
:crazy

I don't want anyone to think that I am overly paranoid or anything, but I will say that information I posted on the internet 4 years ago was dragged up in a recent lawsuit. It wasn't bad or anything, but it just goes to show that lawyers are not afraid to put search drones to work to kick up their billable hours and dig up anything and everything that they can on you.

To cover my butt now I just want to tell whoever is trying to dig up dirt on me now that everything I have ever said is a lie. ...or is it? :D

People can even be brought up on harrassment charges for continuing to join a message board they are banned from.

If I ever found out a mechanic drove my car like that I can assure you after I finished bashing his face in against the curb for 20 min he wouldn't be driving anything but a wheel chair.

That thread makes me real glad I went on the test drive with the 18 year old kid that was assigned to verify my brake pulsation on my new WRX. I'm sure he would've babied it had I not been there. :bsflag

:LOLOL that sounds about right if i was the owner of the car.

That's a pretty standard reaction. Additionally I would put many scratches in their personal cars paint (in the shape of various objects) that were so deep that a full repaint couldn't get them out.

See and then My friends wonder why I won't let anyone vallet my car! And I would rather give the vallet $5.00 to let me park it myself!

Fortunatly for me my brother is my Ford mechanic! And the better part is that he's scared of my car he always says "If I drove this car daily Id be in Jail" Nothing better then 300+ American horse Power!

See, that is what makes me a little nervous about leaving my car at the dealership next week. They need to reflash the ECU and they have to send it to New Jersey for that. I guess that means nobody will be driving it for a couple days since it won't have an ECU in it, but my biggest fear is that they'll wash it before they give it back. lol Isn't that ridiculous? I actually had bad dreams about it last night. I don't know how else to make it clear that if they wash the car then I'll ***** the dealership. (heh heh heh... with the *** there nobody knows what I really plan to do if they wash my car. Bwahahahahahah!)

I had that problem. I dropped the Volvo off for an oil change and specifically told them not to wash it. This is even after they assured me that the was h is free, I had to explain that I did not care about the money, I just wash my own car.

My wife went to go pick the car up in the AM and not only did they wash it the previous day, they were in the process of "hosing" it off so it would not look dusty. My wife informed the service manager of all of the ling hard hours that I spend detailing the car and what she has to put up with because of my obsession. I hope to never have to go through this again.

Fortunatly I think I may escape tragedy. I told the service manager that if they washed the car there would be problems and he said it wouldn't be a problem. They don't have a wash bay to do any car washing in, so it's not even a possibility. They don't send serviced cars out to be washed, so my car should be nice and dirty when I get it back. :bigups
