Who Remembers Wesley's Bleach White?

Yes, it's still sold in most auto parts stores, but there just aren't that many cars with whitewalls or white letter tires any more.

I found a bottle sitting way back in the bowels of my garage and thought I'd give it a try on these grungy white letter tires.......

Still works just like it did 20 years ago!

I still see at the local auto parts store on the shelve, works great! Thanks Bill for sharing it here.

Nice review Bill. :)

I actually bought a gallon of this stuff 2 weeks ago. I still use it a lot.

I cant decide if I like Purple Power or Bleche better.

Which oe do you like better?

Well.... I only use Wesley's for Raised White Letter tires and it works great!

On the other hand, I use Purple Power for almost everything... engine cleaning, wheels, (blackwall) tires, interiors.

I'd be afraid to use Wesley's on anything but tires! It's pretty strong stuff!:scared:

Funny, "Amazing Roll Off" smells just like it.

I thought the same thing the 1st time I used ARO... little less strong smelling than Bleche White though. Both work excellent on tires and whitewalls, RWL, etc.... however, ARO doesn't booger up uncoated aluminum the way Westley's does.

I've had Westley's Bleche White in my cabinet for 30+ years. When the stores discontinued the cleaner for the electrostatic filter cells in my furnace I started using WBW 1:1. The crud just rolls right off.

I used to use Wesley's on my Dad's whitewall tyres WBW

Amazing Roll Off, Purple Power and Wesley's Bleche-Wite? Whitewall Cleaner all contain Butyl Cellosolve (2-butoxyethanol) Sodium Met silicate and Sodium Hydroxide, which are acidic, none of which are particularly paint, rubber or environmentally friendly. It may stain / etch clear coat painted wheel surfaces and zinc rotors as well as drying out tyres

I learned that lesson the hard way!

I had just bought my '82 Corvette with polished aluminum wheels and raised white letter tires. The tires were pretty dirty so I saturated them with WBW, (obviously it ran onto the wheels).

After I scrubbed and rinsed, it took HOURS to repolish the wheels to remove the staining!!! (Lesson learned!):cursing:

Now I remember, I have the same problem back in late 80 on my L82 rims. Now I know why I don't use it anymore......Thanks Bill!

I use WBW on really nasty tires, the trick is to spray a little Majestic Solutions Super Green (alkalin) on the rims first, it neutralizes the WBW run off from the tires.

They are in Raleigh, NC - and have a web site where you can order stuff. I get a lot of my chemicals from them, local guys and always give me samples!

Good to know, thanks! ;)

I use it all the time. Two of my daily drivers have raised white letter tires...

White letter tires first started showing up on Corvettes and Camaros back in '69-'70. Whitewall tires, however, have been around since the '50's!

Wesley's has been at work for almost 60 years!

The Bleache White scares me! I haven't used that in years. Friend of mine ruined a new set of coated wheels he bought. Pitted the clear coat and looked terrible. I've been using a 50/50 mix of Simple Green for just about everything.

Finally got around to putting up a dozen panels of vinyl privacy fence that had been setting out back for three seasons. It had gotten pretty nasty and dirty so by chance I grabbed the wesleys and was shocked at how clean the fence panels got with so little effort. While cleaning the fence the wife took the bottle and sprayed the aluminum wheels on her 2000 mercury mountaineer. I yelled don't do that , but i was too late. Luckily the wheels must have a clear coated surface because the wheels came out spotless. Learn something new every day.
