white lettering tires: yes or no?

Do you think suv's, and trucks look better with white lettering? I think it depends on the color of the vehicle, and whether the rim is alloy or chrome.

I've never been a fan of RWL. First off, I am not getting paid to advertise for the tire company, and I think blackwalls have a cleaner appearance.

Same here. RWLs remind me of some of the less-than-swell trends of the 1970s.

I don't care for them. I think they just take away fromt he vehicle and is just one more thing you have to really keep clean. I have noticed a rash of Nascar fans going with yellow lettering now. Hopefully that dies really soon!

I think it really depends on the car or truck. I love them on my F150. Adds a nice touch. I also like them on some older muscle cars.

Heh heh, my latest Caprice 9C1 came with yellow letter tires that said "NASCAR" and some fluorescent yellow pinstripes and Chevey bowties to match. The tires are already history and you can guess what I'm gonna do about that pinstriping when (?if? ) I ever get it back from the shop ;)

I think it really just depends on the car, my Intrepid R/T came stock with black wheels and yellow lettered Goodyear eagle tires, came that way to make it look more like a race car I suppose. But at the time it looked really good. The tires have scince been discontinued and are VERY highy sought after. I've seen some of the guys over at Dodgeintrepid.net spendsome BIG bucks for them.

Yes, I don't like the look of the yellow lettering no matter what vehicle it's on. Sorry fans.

Anyhow, I don't have any pics to show, but I have the white lettering on my black silverado Z71. I'm debating whether I should get white lettering on my boat tires as my trailer is black also. The boat is white and grey. I thought this might add a nice touch since the truck tires have the lettering, but I'm not sure if this would be too much. I have alloy rims on the boat trailer, not those stock white looking ones.

I guess i'm the minority here, but I'm a fan of white lettering tires on SUVs. I don't know why but I think it gives it a nicer, sportier look. Cleaning them isn't to hard either. I clean the tires as if I we're cleaning any other tire, and usually the APC and brush really revives the white lettering.

I like the RWL on SUVs, and especially like it MUCH better than having the white letters facing inward. My Jeep Grand Cherokee has a mild lift and 31" tires, so you can see a good deal of the undercarriage and inside of the tires. I keep the insides clean and dressed and just think it looks stupid when there are white letters in there. I would only consider going blackwall if there were no white letters on the tires to begin with. But I think the RWL look good since I keep them clean and the Jeep is white.

I think it depends on the vehicle as well. Almost any muscle car I can think of from the late 60's early 70's looks better IMO with white letters.

My truck has had three sets of tires on it, the first black. The second white letter Firestones (below)

I'm running some generic "Invader GT Radial" now, white letter again. I couldn't imagine my truck with solid black walls now.
