Not sure if this is a good spot for this post but feel free to move if necessary.

I have a 07 Civic and the paint/clear coat is really soft from what I hear/seems. I have a light to medium swirls. So what pads should I get? Also what polish/glaze should I be using on this type of paint? Trying to stick with Meguiar too (local). I have #83 and #9 from previous.

Using this with a PC 7424.

thanks!:up

EDIT: I just found out that they no longer car LC, only Meguiars Pads now!! :hairpull

only Lake Country pads, for now. I am going to pick these up locally and these are all they carry.

#83 might be a little rough for soft paint.

Try some #80 or some 106ff if you can get your hands on it, with a white pad.

Red or Blue pads would be good for the wax process

Hrmm I might just pick that up then.

Is the 'white' pad that comes with the PC the same as a LC 'white' pad?

Which pad should I use for the #9?

Are the 'red'/'blue' pad the same?

Essentially yes the red and blue are about the same and they would work well with #9, I would doubt that the white pad that came with your PC is the same as a LC pad.

If you can find out what the white pad that came with it is designed to do before you use it. Using a cutting pad on soft paint might give you a considerable amount of micro-marring.

lando, in your intitial description you mentioned light to medium defects. I have an 06 honda (and previously a 99 accord), so I am use to the soft paint. Since you are using the PC I would still suggest picking up an orange LC pad. Also, the 4" spot buff pads can be a life saver.

Although Honda paint is soft, the PC is really rather mild in its ability. If the defects are more towards the medium side expect having to do a couple passes or even multiple polishing steps.

icic. The only spot that is medium side, is my trunk lid. the rest of the car is light swirls.

BUT I just found out that they no longer car LC, only Meguiar Pads now!!:hairpull:

Just found this on Lake Country's site as well Lake Country Mfg., Inc.- Products - OEM

So far,

-1 white (#9)

-1 black (polish/glaze)

-1 blue (final wax) or by hand?

A white pad will not remove medium swirls. Megs #9 contains wax and fillers that will hide considerable defects. #9 will not remove any considerable defects, especially with a White LC polishing pad.

Medium swirls need something more than a light polish/filler/polishing pad combo to be removed.

For removal of fine to medium scratches, an Orange, or Yellow cutting pad is the only option, as the White LC polishing pad will not be sufficient to perform the task.
