Where has all the zymol gone?

I have been a fanatic about keeping my cars spotless for a long time but I never thought to look for a forum about it.Now that I have I notice nobody seems to be talking about zymol, that's what I've used for years. What's the deal?

Some people still use it on here, it's not very popular (atleast here anyway) though. Most people here go for the polymers I think, or some of the "less expensive, does the same job better" carnaubas.

Welcome vtec187 ! :welcome

As mindflux said the guys on this forum are not big advocates of Zymol. Probably has something to do with Zymol's pricing and the growing competition. There are a lot of great products out there now. Also, it may have something to do with their connection with Turtle Wax. TW either bought Z or has the distribution rights. Not sure?

Anyhoo...you can still keep your car looking showroom with any of the products discussed on this forum.

Actually the arrangement Zymol has with Turtle Wax is purely distribution. Zymol uses Turtle Wax to distribute Zymol products through Turtle Wax's distribution channels. Turtle Wax does not and has NEVER made any Zymol products. Actually Zymol has Turtle Wax in court right now for not giving Zymol its money for product sold. Zymol has cancelled the contract with Turtle Wax. You can read a few blurbs about the suit on the Zymol web site.

Thanks rjstaaf. Although I've never been a fan of Zymol waxes I do LOVE their car wash (blue liquid). However any of the Zymol products are hard to find in my area.

I just feel you can get equal or better results for less money. $70 for a jar of Pinnacle Souveran is as much as I am ever going to spend on wax.

I used to be a Zymol zealot, before trying several other superior products like P21S and Pinnacle Glaz. I still have Zymol Carbon and Zymol Japon in my kitchen refrigerator. Occasionally my wife bugs me to throw them out ("You never use them anymore!"), but I reason that I'll try them again some day.

I think Larry Reynolds from Car Care Specialties online summarized it well: "Zymol lasts almost as long as it takes to put it on."

I was more referring to their much more expensive products. Normally, I go with S100 ($15), Meguiars #16 ($12) or Carnauba Moose ($18 on line, I pay $12 at HYPERformance). Souveran is an extra cost option for some of my high end customers.
