Where do you buy your products?

Just wondering where you all order all your stuff from. I only need a few things here and there, but shipping costs are just ridiculous for guys like me... if I made lots of money detailing I wouldn't care but man... terrible.

I do get stuff from ebay here and there, but they don't always have what I need.

Is anyone on here a vendor that has resonable rates?

Ok, I was wondering if you were outside of the USA and had crazy shipping prices.

The only USA sites I order from are autogeek.net, griots garage, properautocare.com. I find the shipping is fair when I ship to Maine. Everything else I get close to home, North of the border.

Often, finding what I need is more important to me than what the shipping charges will be. But sometimes places have specials that include free shipping. IIRC, Griot's has that right now.

I generally order from:

-Top of the Line Auto Detailing Supplies

Top of the line is a great site, and they give great service whenever Ive needed to call them. The shipping time to NY, however, not so great.

Just to add a few more sites on the north east side:

Detailed Image - Premium Auto Detailing and Car Care Products in NY

http://www.detailersdomain.com/blog/ in NJ

Mobile auto detailing, reconditioning, equipment, supplies and training in PA

I have local distributors for Optimum, Meguiars, Leather Masters and microfiber towels. Everything else I get online.

Isn't West Coast closing down as well?

Scott, what is your opinion on the opti-coat? Is it really as permanent and hard of a finish as claimed?

It is some pretty tough stuff, that's for sure. I know Dave Fermani has done a torture test and it has held up amazingly well. It has been on both of my parents cars about 21 months now and shows no signs of degradation.

Depends on what I need really. Most my stuff come from Detailed Image but I also order a lot from AutoGeek, ADS, and PAC up until recently. I also order a few nitch items from a few other areas too.

If so I hadn't heard about it :nixweiss

Pretty sure I read it somewhere...

Oh, it's right there on their site - should have just clicked to it rather than searching the various forums...

Sorry for the late response TL, I've only driven up once and order over the phone every other time. I believe they are working on a way for the wholesale accounts to login and see their pricing online while ordering. If you're a consumer you can order online or over the phone and get free shipping over $50. You should visit them as they are great people!

Let me add that during the week I'm only about 2 hours South of them which makes it even more tempting to drive up!

Already got that sense from an e-mail response I received, it's on the agenda. Competative pricing, thought that might be a little tough... gotta have some steep overhead located in a mall.

Probably a couple hours from me as well. I've got a Brit friend that'll be in Greensburg next month. He bears a curious resemblence to Paul Dalton. Thought maybe we'd drop by and get some pics with a tub of Crystal Rock. :biggrin1:

Unless you place a larger order and qualify for free shipping, you must expect to pay $8 (or higher) each time something is ordered. I know, it's starts to get silly but I don't know of any way of beating this. I ordered some stuff from ADS last week and the shipping was 50% of the two small things I ordered. Problem is, nobody else was selling the items where I could have saved anything.

Alternate: Sometimes you can find stuff on eBay. Shipping could be somewhat less.

Alternate: Establish a relationship with your local auto shop body supply store that sells Meguair's and go 100% Meguiar's. Then you won't have to deal with any shipping charges, Mr. Guitarist.
