Hi Guys,

I am at a stalemate trying to decide which car Audio speaker are the "best." The word "best "as I used it here is referring to overall Clarity, crisp & clear, rich, enveloping sound that makes you really feel like you are there and off course decent bass response. I'm not a fanatic about thunderous, pounding bass and all that but i do need abit in there. I'm looking for that sound richness and quality.

So this is very vey vague but from the criteria i mentioned above which of these three Brands do you think fits the role best overall/

1) Alpine audio speakers model: (SPR-69LP) 2-way

($159.99)

2) Pioneer Audio Speakers model: (TS-A6981R ) 4-way

(149.99)

3) Rockford Fosgate audio speakers model: (P1694C 4-way

($129.99)

let me know your opinions k,

Thanx for reading, hoping to hear some feedback.

Cheers, everyone :wavey

sorry cant be of help much here but personally you have to listen to all of them and let your ears decide what sounds good to YOU.reveryone has a different criteria as to what sounds "best" to their ears.same with detailing here.like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what should only matter is what looks good to you.

BUT if i was to pick out of the three id choose the Alpine 2 way.4 way?never heard of it.

Personally, I would go with components if you are going for SQ.

I have CDT components and really recommend them, but there are a lot of brands out there and only you can decide what sounds best. Sort of like detailing...in the eye (or ears) of the beholder. Good luck with our upgrade.

I don't like any of them, but that is my opinion from listening to them. Everyone thinks things sound different. Trust your ears, not your friends.

Strictly my opinion, Alpine is probably the best brand, their stuff is usually expensive.

Of the 3 speakers you listed, my guess is that the Pioneer is the best. It's the high end of the Pioneer range and the low end of the Alpine range. I don't know anything about Fosgate.

But robert is right, lsten to them all with a headunit like you plan to use. Then buy what you like.

Fosgate is poop ever since they mass produced for Best Buy...before then, back in the day, their stuff was SOLID! Out of YOUR three choices you have listed I would say that Alpine is 1 then Pioneer. I wouldnt even consider Fosgate. Basically have the stereo shop play music through them all and hear which one sounds the best. Best way to do it imo....some speakers are better than others as far as frequencies.

Out of the group, I'd choose Alpine but if I had my choice, I'd go with MB Quart or Kicker. I bought some el cheapo Alpine Type S speakers for my Explorer and they sound decent for the money since they were VERY cheap off Ebay, but I wouldn't put them in my big system. In my last three vehicles with big custom systems, I have gone with MB Quarts and absolutely LOVE them.

On the other hand, the shop that does my installations has a van that they use to compete with and they win pretty much every competition, and they are sponsored by Kicker and I've never heard anything ever sound as good as this. This van isn't competing in DB contests either, instead they compete in quality contests where the imaging and staging have to be extremely specific. Very cool stuff. The thing has multiple systems in it that can be turned on a off for different competitions (like full analog or full digital, db, staging, etc.) One of the systems only has three 6.5" components and it sounds like you are surrounded by twelve speakers. It's amazing. Then again, these particular Kickers are $1,200 per pair.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Kraco or Jensen!

Personally, I'd go with Kicker (incredible bass for their size) or Infinity Kappas (crystal clear and decent bass).

Oh that list, Alpine.

Here's a link that is similar to this forum but all about car stereo. Good luck, but with a little research and careful shopping, I think you can do better. Like others have mentioned, there is no best. It's what your ears like and musical tastes that will determine what is best for you.

Pioneer of the ones you have listed for sure.

Right now I have a JVC Arsenal deck (pricey but worth it to keep the red on black with blue display look that matches the interior of my Jetta) and Infinity components all around, sound quality is second to none.

Wait till you get a chance to hear Dynaudio, Illusion Audio, high end MB Quarts, Focal etc...:up

With a kickass budget, Id run with MB Quartz components and Kicker subs and amps. Headunits are the domain of Alpine IMO, they are hard to beat. That set-up certainly won me a few car stereo comps here in Australia.

In that list if I was running a single brand, I would run Alpine for having above average components in all categories.

But like everything, brands have their strengths and weaknesses so I like mixing and matching....

Thanx everyone for the great adivce. I know that there are better brands than the ones I listed at the the beginning but the only reason i am limited to those three are because my brother works for best Buy and can hook me up on those brands at cost price. He gets huge discounts on car Audio. So I am trying to get whats the best from Best buy.

BTW what are Components & What do they do. never heard of em' till now. Guess I'm a noob to car audio. I'll do abit of research on em'. I'm assuming Kickers are just Amps, correct me if I'm wrong.

Lastly, I wanted to ask, many mentioned to get the Alpines over the pioneers. In the ones listed, the Alpines are 2-Way speakers whereas the Pioneers are 4-way speakers. Do you still think that the Alpines will have better quality? I had the mentality the more "#-ways" i.e.( 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, etc) the speakers have, the better the quality.

Thanx for the great link, my research has begun.

I know a few people who SWEAR by JL Audio...

audiobahn is another brand out there. And if your pockets were deep enough critical mass subs

I went to best Buy the other day.

I was browsing their component speakers. They only had 3 types of Component brands --1) Alpine Type R 2-way components

2) Rockford-fosgate 2-way components

& 3) Kenwood 2-way components

The Best buy rep turned on the music for the three and i listened to the sound quality of each. Quite Strangely, through this best buy's Model speakers, The Rockford Fosgates were sounding FAR greater in sound quality as compared to the Alpines, i was shocked.... (Forget about the Kenwood-they sounded bad)

Everytime i ask people about good car speakers, they mention Alpine rocks! However, they didn't perform well at all where i listened to them.

So I asked the rep, "Man, is the volume for these Alpines set on something lower as compared to the Rockfords" and hes like " NO, In component speakers, Rockford Foasgates are the Absolute best (from what best buy sells) even better than the Alpine.

But i was like everyone says alpines are better than Rockfords but hes like" No, Alpine is the best in SUBS but not components"

So i don't know what to do now. i was gonna buy the Alpines but since they didn't sound good at the store, i wanna get the Rockfords. i'm confused man.

Anyones who has some insight on this, please advise me from within these two brands ( Alpine Type R components VS. Rockford components. maybe they were damaged at the best buy that I listened to them at or maybe rockfords are better. Please help. Thanx.

Alpine are an excellent brand overall, but their electronics are their strongest product. I wouldn't buy component speakers from any of the listed brands.
