What towel do you use for removing polish and/or wax?

I know they say microfiber is best, but it's expensive. What about cotton diapers? I used cotton t-shirts in the past, but I am cautious about them on my TT, the threading could be polyester maybe? I tried the burn test too.

I use microfiber, because those small fibers pick up more wax and buff it out quicker and easier. Ranney at Pakshak gives good deals for Autopians, just e-mail him with what you want and he'll give you a price.

it's better to get the autopian discount by e-mailing him, you won't get free shipping, but the discount+shipping is less than msrp

There was an old thread about using cotton diapers. It looks like is ok but make a search.

Try to get a discount.

wherever you decide to buy them, make sure there quality....Theres some cheap imitators out there....

Think of the investment you have in your 2004 Audi TTQC and the relative value it will maintain if you treat her properly. MF's ( $3-$12( DF towels)) are not expensive if you look at the whole picture.

I doubt that you will use Dino oil in your engine because synthetic is soooo expensive. Treat your finish with the same TLC. JMHO :wavey

Check out PakShak. :xyxthumbs

I wish I knew about PakShak before I ordered from microfibertech.com, PakShak's prices are really good and the free shipping makes it worthwhile. Too bad they are not closer (i.e. faster shipping to me)

What blkZ28Conv said!

The new, normally aspirated, TT runs $42,000 ( $12,000 more than the comparable VW R32).

My 16x16 MFs from JT International cost about $2.25 ($2 + shipping).

Do me a favor. Buy 20 MF towels from somebody! I might be lookin' for that car 2 or 3 years! LOL

jimamary, $42k? My MSRP was only $40,065 and it has everything including 18" wheels! But it's a coupe, the roadsters are more expensive! Look for it in 3 years, it's a garage queen with a monthly feeding of P21S! Black is an awesome color!

armoredsaintt, dont worry about the MicroFiberTech MFs. They're 1st-class. I have 'em and love 'em. (OK, I also have Ranney's and others... and I love 'em all -- except for that garbage from Walmart etc.) I use the MFs for comparatively-harsh work. But for removing wax or Zaino/Klasse or any QD, all I use is the Autopia CBT (I understand DFTowel is comparable) And as for your question about Meguiar's FI/FD ... I find the Autopia CBT/DFTowel does a better job with a QD -- seems to let the product "dwell" a bit longer but still clean it off gently.... Different towels for different applications ...

Microfiber towels are pretty cheap in the long run. Most of them can take 300-500 trips through the washing machine before they begin to degrade. Can't say the same about anything made with cotton.

Very, very, very good point Scott. :bow

MF's do retain their like new appearance, softness and functionality for a real long time. :xyxthumbs

I too stand behind MicrofiberTech MF's ( I use MFT, PakShak, Poorboy's and DF MF's). Worth every cent.

Black TT - SWEEEEET! Get some MF's and preserve that beautiful finish.

I just placed an order from Ranney @ Pakshak.com on the phone, what a great guy to talk to, really first class and the discount he gave is great! And he mentioned that he is offering an even softer MF towel very soon too! More reasons to spend more money:D

OH-NOoooooo! :( Not another, better PakShak MF. ("OK, kids, see that thing rolling down the hill there? That's your inheritance." .....)

Ranney told me about these also. I can't wait to give them a try. If they are half as good as his other towels...I'm already sold.

Ranney does have the best prices around and the towels are great, but I really love my Microfiber Tech Elite Towels for removing polish and wax. I use the low pile side for the initial removal and then flip to the plusher pile side to buff. I follow with a final buff with my DF Towel or Concours Buffing Towel. I think I only use cotton to clean my wheels now.

When will these new towels from PakShak be available? I wonder if they are going to replace the current ones or be an additional product? I hope they are available in 24 inch x 24 inch.

I think he mentioned that he's still testing it out. Shouldn't be too long. I get my pakshak MF's this weekend hopefully, then the TT gets a feeding of P21S!
