Gosh, I'm betwixt and between on this one. I have used (and been happy with) Mother's clay bar and their Showtime Lube, the ClayMagic kit, and Autopia's Glide and Block. All have given me very good results. But the one I keep repurchasing is Autopia's. It just seems "smoother" and the lubricant is super-duper-slick. :up
Others correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I've heard that 3M's clay seems a bit too agressive? Or am I remembering incorrectly??
But, Stevet, when I'm using clay, I don't want aggressive! It's meant to be my gentlest, first step. In fact, I'm often using it over Zaino. And, of course, I'm not using it for heavy paint overspray, which some here have mentioned.
I understand what you are saying, I don't want too aggressive either.
You said that you had used the Clay Magic bar and it had given you very good results and that you heard the 3M bar was too aggressive. I have both the Clay Magic (blue) and 3M bar, IMHO they are the exact same bar. They look, feel ,and perform exactly the same. I sure I read that a few people here noticed the same thing.
I have used Mothers clay to and I find it to be even less aggressive than Clay Magic(blue) and 3M.
I've used Mother's and Clay Magic to good effect. The Clay MAgic is probably the better buy since I don't need the cleaner wax that comes with the Mother's kit.
My vote goes for either the local Mother's claybar w/ Showtime or ordered online Autopia Clay kit... I would try ClayMagic, but I can't seem to find any at my local Walmarts for the past 4+ months...
I have tried a few clay bars and I think the one from griots garage is the best .The speed shine lubricant works great .The clay never seems to stick to the paint
