What foam pads work the best with Menzerna Polishes??

When using Menzerna polishes via rotary, what foam pads and colors do you prefer?

SIP = ??

106 - ??

Are CCS style pads better?

I love the LC orange (reticulated foam) with SIP. PO106FF/FA works great with either LC green, orange, white and blue.

This is how I use them

PO85RD3.02 = Orange LC

PO016FA = White LC, but sometimes Green if the paint is harder. Ace finish.

depends on the correction I'm after, but generally SIP and an orange pad does well for me. I do have to make more than one pass usually, but I'd rather do that then use a yellow pad and be more aggressive.

As for the 106, I love using white pads.

As for the CCS pads, I'm not too happy with them. I find they cake up too easily, and the foam breaks off in pieces after 2 uses.

i was just gonna ask this... if you have soft paint and dont want any marring from the cut of the pad.. should you just use a finishing pad and let the product do all the work?

I've been using 106 with a white LC curved edge pad, and it works great. I just used it on white JDM Suzuki, and it left a beautiful, hologram-free finish.

I really love a BLUE CCS and 106 on mid to soft paints. White if its a bit harder.

I Have a love affair with PURPLE wool and SIP or blackfire.

I'm suprised at the green foam comments. I ONLY have the 7.5 inch green foam, which I am assuming is different then the others, because it is very rough and marrs the hell out of any paint.

Is there two types of green?

I have used SIP on the following pads

Yellow- Good cut but I think your better off going to a more agressive polish...

Orange- Great combination that appears to finish down very close to LSP ready on most harder paints and has a fair amount of cut on softer finishes

White- Can do moderate defect removal on soft paint and can finish down near LSP ready (depending on your standards)on hard, light colored clears

Blue- Can finish down LSP ready on hard paints, light cut. Seems mismatched too me...

Purple Foamed Wool- Nice cut and very nice finish. IMO, it finishes down as well as the orange pad does (after wiping the surface 3-4 times with prep-sol). The orange pad leaves marring, but the wool's looks worse. Both clean up just as easy though, so I think its a pattern of the marring vs. the depth/difficulty of removal. Really great combination is above average cut and finishes down easy enough to catch with a mild polish.

Twisted Wool- Can't tell the cut and do not like this combo. Seems mismatched, compared to the cut of SIP. The full wool cut will always leave the surface hazed (though Brian and I did do a test with the wool/sip, where it left a near hologram free finish, lol, that looked good. Of coure a little straight body shop alcohol and sun time, and the surface returned to terrible).

But again, seem mismatched, as SIP is a mild-moderate cut that finishes down extremely well for its cut.

I personally like it with a purple foamed wool to get a nice cut, and decent appearing finish. Then I follow it up on a white pad to remove the wool marring and make the surface appear LSP ready.

At this point, I grab either 106ff or UltraFina and a finishing pad and make sure it is LSP ready.

Even though I'm *not* one of the top detailers on this site I might be qualified to answer this. Yes, there are two types of green foam. There's the course one that you mention as well as the much softer "German" green. Autogeek sells it in flat CCS 6.5" and CMA sells it in both 6.5 curved edge as well as 7.5. The "German" foam IMO is a killer piece of foam.:D

Todd; I have found there are two versions (cut) of the green pad. I posted some pictures of the differences awhile ago. I have one that looks more like a brillo pad, and it is a horrible pad for any application I've come across.

Todd; have you tired the 106 and blue combo on any of the F cars? I found this a great combo.

In short SIP and Purple wool are ideal to me, I follow it with a IPA then blue/white and 106ff, then IPA again, check and adjust if needed, then LSP of choice.

Very cool, and your work is TOP notch. I am always impressed by your work, no doubt, now get back to posting click and brags...

Where would you say that green (the german/softer) fits between on the LC scale of colors?

I have the brillo pad. Its seriously is terrible...lol. I used 106 and blue on a lot of the F cars, I love it! Depending on the color, I usually grab 106 (lighter colors or ones that need a little final cut) or UF (darker colors or ones that "look" perfect). Great combinations on softer paints :D

Thanks.:)

I'd say it's between white and blue.

The german green is soft but has an open pore pattern of 60PPI. Depending on the paint softness and polish it probably won't be LSP ready. With an AIO it will probably be OK.
