I just purchased a Mytee 8070 that hasn't even arrived yet, but I have NO IDEA what chemicals to use with it. Can someone please direct me in the right direction for the proper products and their uses. Thanks.

I use 4 ounces per gallon of Valugard's Odor Terminator.

It is amazing for odor control.

Apply detergent (APC) directly to the carpet.

This is a great source for stain removal products. There is likely a Bridgepoint Distributor in you area.

Ok...so water only for the extractor. What product(s) would you recommend to spray on the carpet first to aggitate?

Yah, I just got my Durrmaid extractor :getdown

I read that you need defoamer to clean out the jet nozzle and the hose too? And also on the owner manual said, use vinegar to clean out the thank too. Anyone agree?

I read the link provided by gmblack3a and there's a lot of good info there if you know something about extractors...which I don't.

Anybody have a basic list of "Buy this...to do this"?

just picked up the durrmaid myself..thing works great...In most all pro chems u dont need a defoamer and the vinegar is to aid in cleaning the residue out of the tank so it dont smell and grow mildew over time of storage.. Is it necessary,,thats up to you!

Defoamer goes in the recovery tank or on the carpet itself. The purpose is to keep foam from entering the vacuum motor. Foam can suspend dirt that can damage the motor. Vineger is run through the lines of the machine from the solution tank to remove alkaline scale buildup. Both of these steps are necessary to make your extractor last longer.

We find that spraying an APC directly on the carpet (agitate as needed) and simply extracting eliminates the need for the defoamer... I bought a gallon of powdered defoamer 4 years ago, and still have more than half of it left.

A gallon of vinegar weekly (recycle it through 4-5 times) descales quite well.

APC is all purpose cleaner; made by many different manufacturers. Usually it is high ph which can leave a residue in the carpets that will re-soil quickly. A dedicated carpet shampoo is a better choice IMHO. I personally like TOL Rug Renew.

I wonder whats going happend if you put 2 capful of vinegar in the suction nozzle?

You know what I mean? Like use the same way like your were using defoamer.

FWIW,

Bridge point is an awesome chemical man. They use the same chemist as Pro-chem.

I was at JonDon website.. Too many products and too confusing. Okay, what I do need for cleaning carpet, which products?
